CAUTION:
• Use a power source with the voltage specified on the nameplate of the charger.
• Do not charge the battery cartridge in a location exposed to direct sunlight.
• Do not charge the battery cartridge in presence of flammable liquids or gases.
• Charge the battery cartridge with room temperature at 10°C – 40°C (50°F – 104°F).
• Never carry charger by cord or yank it to disconnect from receptalce.
• Do not expose charger to rain or snow.
• This charger can be used in any vehicle having a cigarette lighter socket operated by a 12 or 24 volt negative ground
battery. If battery capacity has dropped, start the engine of the vehicle. Charge the battery cartridge using this
charger while the engine is idling. Do not leave the vehicle while the engine is running.
• Non-rechargeable batteries cannot be charged with this battery charger.
• Do not allow anything to cover the charger.
• If you wish to charge two battery cartridges, allow 15 minutes between chargings on the charger.
• After charging, unplug the charger from the power source.
• Do not disassemble charger.
Charging
1.
Plug the charger into the cigarette lighter socket. The charging light will flash in green color.

Insert the battery cartridge so that the plus and minus terminals on the battery cartridge are on the same sides as
their respective markings on the charger. Insert the cartridge fully into the port so that it rests on the charger port
floor.

When the battery cartridge is inserted, the charging light color will change from green to red and charging will
begin. The charging light will keep lighting up steadily during charging.

When charging is completed, the charging light color will change from red to green. The charging time is as fol-
lows:
Battery 7000, 7100, 7120, 9000, 9100, 9100A, 9120, 1200, 1200A, 1220, 1420, PA09, PA12 and PA14:
Approx. 45 minutes
Battery 7001, 9001, 9101, 9101A, 1201 and 1201A: Approx. 60 minutes
Battery 7002, 9002, 9102, 9102A, 9122, 1202, 1202A, 1222 and 1422: Approx. 70 minutes
Battery 7033, 9033, 9133, 1233 and 1433: Approx. 75 minutes
Battery 7034, 9034, 9134, 1234 and 1434: Approx. 85 minutes
Battery 9135, 9135A, 1235, 1235A, 1235F, 1435 and 1435F: Approx. 100 minutes

After charging, unplug the charger from the power source.
NOTE:
• The charger is for charging Makita battery cartridge. Never use it for other purposes or for other manufacturer's bat-
teries.
• If the charger and/or battery cartridge are hot, the charging light may flash in red color. If this occurs, wait for a while.
Charging will begin after the charger and/or battery cartridge cool.
• If the charging light flashes alternately in green and red color, charging is not possible. The terminals on the charger
or battery cartridge are clogged with dust or the battery cartridge is worn out or damaged.
• Any of the following conditions indicates damage to the charger and/or battery cartridge. Ask your Makita Authorized
or Factory Service Center to check them.
1) The charging light does not flash (green) when the charger is plugged into a power source.
2) The charging light does not light up nor flash (red) when the battery cartridge is inserted in the charger port.
3) Charging is not completed at even more than two hours after red light comes ON at start of charging.
