2.2 Verifying Pump Operation

Check the pump before each day's use.
1. The pump motor starts fast and then slows down as
the instrument adjusts the power to run the pump.
2. Once gas readings are displayed, plug the free end
of the sampling line or probe. The pump motor shuts
down and an alarm sounds.
3. When the pump inlet, sample line or probe is
blocked, the pump alarm must activate.
4. If the alarm does not activate: Check the pump,
sample line, and probe for leaks. Once the leak is
fixed, recheck the pump alarm by blocking the flow.
5. Press the RESET button to reset the alarm and
restart the pump.
Never let the end of the sampling line touch or go under any liquid surface. We
recommend the use of a floating probe.

2.3 Calibration Check

Perform this calibration check regularly.
The calibration check is simple and should only take
about one minute.
1. Verify that readingsindicate no gas is present.
2. Attach the regulator to the cylinder.
3. Connect the tubing to the regulator.
4. Attach the other end of tubing to the ORION
inlet fitting.
5. Open the regulator valve.
- After one minute the reading on the ORION
display should be within the limits determined by
your company.
- If not you should calibrate your ORION
6. Press the RESET button to reset the alarm.
