c) Negative Influences when Searching

It is difficult to great a precise result from something you do not know yet. A number of factors make detection and thus finding
of objects difficult. These are:
• The angle at which the object is stuck in the ground (area for detection)
• The depth of the object in the soil
• The degree of oxidation of the object
• The size of the object
• Electromagnetic and electrical interferences (e.g. earth cables, radio services, etc.) near the object
Due to the circumstances named, it is all the more important that you intensely familiarise yourself with your metal detector and
possible search results before you go "treasure hunting".

12. Operating information

The setting notes in the following chapters "Basic setting" and "Operation" are used for first familiarisation with the
function when finding objects. Together with the notes from chapter 11 "Advice on Operation", practice in a known
environment (e.g. at home on a wood table or in your garden) with known objects (watches, rings, iron, etc.) until you
can identify objects correctly securely and "blind".
When you are secure in identification of objects, you can go for a search in unknown terrain. Additional notes on fine
settings of the device and thus the most successful treasure hunt possible can be found in this chapter under "c) Fine
Settings".
a) Basic settings
• Set the volume indicator "Volume" to ten o'clock.
• Adjust the setting controllers "Ground", "Discrimination" and "Sensitivity" to the middle position.
• Switch on the metal detector with the "mode" switch to position "VLF". The display unit will deflect and the speaker will emit a
sound.
• Keep the search probe at least 25 centimetres off of the ground and any metal parts.
• Push the button in the handle (8) and keep the button pushed.
• For a basic setting of the metal detector, set the display unit into the zero position (see scale) by slowly turning the setting
controller "Tuning". The speaker will be off in this position. Now the device is ready for your "treasure hunt". Further settings
must be done in operation. For information on this, see the following chapters.
If you push the button in the handle (8) in operation, the display in the instrument will be reset to the zero position.
The basic setting must always be performed before the first commissioning and when switching the search field.
