10. Control elements and functions

a) Control elements

This chapter explains the functions of the control elements and display indications.
Observe the numbers in figure 4.
• The metal detector is switched on with the switch "Mode" (1) and the operating
mode is selected. There are three operating modes: VLF, TR1 and TR2.
- Mode "VLF" is used for the basic setting of the metal detector.
- Mode "TR1" is mostly used for search and differentiates generally between
different objects, such as gold and iron, and indicates this in the display unit
(2).
- Mode "TR2" is used for precise analysis of an object found in mode "TR1"
and differentiates between different objects, such as gold and aluminium, and
indicates this in the display unit (2).
• The setting controller "Volume" (3) controls the volume of the detection signal.
• The setting controller "Ground" (4) adjusts the metal detector to different soil
situations and thus improves the search result.
• The setting controller "Tuning" (5) is used to reconcile the search probe with
the electronics of the operating unit and correct the zero position of the display
unit (2).
• The setting controller "Discrimination" (6) sets the differentiation threshold
between different metals.
• The setting controller "Sensitivity" (7) adjusts the metal detector to different
search depth and thus improves the search result.
• The button in the handle (8) is used for setting and zeroing the display unit in operation.
• The LED (9) shows undervoltage of the batteries. When this LED is lit in operation, both batteries must be replaced.
b) Sound signals
The operating unit has a speaker and a headphones socket (to the side of the handle). If headphones are connected, the
integrated speaker is off. The volume can be increased (turn to the right) or reduced (turn to the left) with the setting controller
"Volume" (3). If a non-iron-containing object is recognised, a signal sounds.
The use of headphones not only permits better recognition of the sound signals, but at the same time reduces the
power consumption of the metal detector.
In headphone operation, the setting controller "Volume" (3) must be turned all the way to the left before activating the
device. Otherwise, hearing damage threatens from excessive volume!
