AHD 720p Surveillance Camera
Item no. 1337784
Intended use
This camera is intended for video monitoring and protecting secluded or critical areas (e.g.,
entrance areas, stairwells).
The camera broadcasts an AHD video signal and can therefore only be connected to compat-
ible digital recorders.
The camera is only intended to be used with a stabilised direct current of 12 V/DC.
The camera is suitable for use in indoor and outdoor areas (IP67).
Please bear in mind that it is prohibited by law to observe strangers with a camera without
their knowledge and consent. Observe the rules and regulations of the country where you are
using the camera.
The safety instructions must be observed at all times!
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves
risks such as short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc. No part of the product may be modified or
converted!
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All names of

Package contents
• Camera with wall bracket
• Allen key (for adjusting the wall bracket)
• Mounting material (screws/wall plugs)
• Operating instructions
Safety instructions
The warranty/guarantee will be void in the event of damage caused by failure
to observe these operating instructions! We do not assume any liability for
any resulting damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases,
the warranty will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted
for safety and approval reasons (CE). Never dismantle the product.
• The product is not a toy and does not belong in the hands of children. It should be
operated out of the reach of children.
• The camera is only intended to be used with a stabilised direct current of 12 V/DC.
• The camera is suitable for use in indoor and outdoor areas (IP67). However, it
must never be used in or under water, as this will destroy it.
The connection plugs on the camera's power cable are not waterproof or water
resistant and must therefore be placed in a dry interior area (for example, in a
suitable connection box).
• The camera should not be exposed to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight,
strong vibrations or heavy mechanical stress.
• Make sure that the connection cable is not pinched or damaged by sharp edges.
• The use of this camera does not replace the personal supervision of children or
people who require special assistance, but serves only as a support to this super-
vision.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
falls, even from a low height.
• If the camera is used with other devices (e.g., a digital recorder), the operating
instructions and safety notes for these devices must also be followed.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are
to be observed.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating instructions,
please contact our technical department or another specialist.
Information about AHD
www.conrad.com
The camera transmits an analogue high definition video signal (AHD = "Analog High Defini-
tion"). This is uncompressed and without latency. However, to display the image or recording,
Version 06/15
a special digital recorder. is required.
A direct image generation on a standard monitor (such as for conventional cameras with ana-
logue composite PAL video signal) is not possible (currently no monitor with direct AHD video
input is available). That is why you will need an AHD digital recorder to connect to the monitor.
A special feature is that for the AHD signal an already existing coax cable can be used. So it
is sufficient to replace the "old" composite cameras and the composite digital recorder against
AHD cameras and an AHD digital recorder.
Assembly
• If you need to drill holes to secure the wall bracket, mark first the installation position on the
wall through the fastening holes in the wall bracket.
Also, if necessary, drill a hole in the wall that is large enough to pass the connection cable
through.
Make sure that you do not damage existing cables or lines when drilling.
Select the installation site so it is protected against attempts to tamper with the camera. For
this reason, the camera should be mounted at a minimum height of 2.5 m.
• Either run the connection cable from either side of the wall bracket or run it through an exist-
ing hole in the wall, where you intend to mount the wall bracket.
• Fasten the wall bracket, with the camera mounted on it, firmly to the wall. Depending on the
wall, use screws and suitable wall plugs.
• To adjust the position of the camera, use the enclosed Allen key to slightly loosen the fixing
screws on the wall bracket. Adjust the camera position as desired and tighten the screws
again.
Connection
The camera is equipped with a connection cable with two connectors on the end.
• The AHD video signal is available through the BNC connector. Use a suitable adapter if you
cannot use a BNC video cable. Connect the camera to an appropriate digital recorder that
can work with AHD cameras.
• The camera is connected to the external power supply via the low-voltage circular socket
(direct current, 12 V/DC). A suitable round plug is needed for the connection, outer diameter
5.5 mm, inner diameter 2.1 mm. The outer contact of the round plug should be Minus/"-", the
inner contact Plus/"+".
If you install and use the camera in outdoor areas, the two connectors must be placed in a
location that is protected from moisture. If this is not observed, the connectors will corrode!
Set the correct input channel on the display device, to display the camera image.
At the time of writing these operating instructions, it was possible to switch between
the camera modes AHD and composite. To do this, press right on the D-pad (marked
"R" next to the D-pad) for 3 seconds while it is powered on.
Future versions of the camera may not allow to be switched so that perhaps only the
AHD video signal becomes available.
Important:
For the purpose of recording the camera's AHD video signal, a suitable digital
recorder is required that supports AHD. Otherwise, only a very distorted and
barely recognizable image signal appears! Yet, the camera is not broken!
Always choose the correct operating mode, if the digital recorder allows switching
the video input between AHD and composite video.
Protect the plug against dust and dirt, e.g., with a small plastic bag or similar.
If the connection cable is too short (depending on the wall thickness or installation
position), use a suitable connection box mounted near the camera.
Depending on where the camera is mounted, this connection box must be suitable
for outdoor installation. The cable connection for the video output or the power sup-
ply can then be placed in the connection box, also the housing with the setting knob,
which is located on the camera cable.
Lay the cable in such a way that it is protected against tampering, e.g., in a cable
duct or similar.
Improper connection or connecting to the wrong voltage may damage the camera;
loss of warranty!
