4. Explanation of Technical Terms
Amp(A)
This is the unit used to measure currents (in this case the charging current).
Milli-Amp (mA)
mA represents a subunit of the current. 1000mA equals 1A. Thus 2.5 A = 2500mA or 25mA = 0.025A.
Milli-Amp-Hours (mAh)
This unit indicates the energy that your battery can store, that is the capacity. If the power consumption of your model is known, you can
calculate the runtime. For example, a 2000mAh battery will provide energy for one hour at a current of 2A, or 2 hours at a current of 1A. Con-
versely, a 3000mAh battery that is charged at a current of 1A has an approximate charging time of 3 hours (3 hours x 1.0A = 3Ah = 3000mAh).
„C"-Rate
Some battery manufacturers specify the maximum permissible charging current of your battery in a so-called C-rate. Most batteries have
a permissible charging current of 1C. This corresponds to the battery capacity (3000mAh battery = 3000mA = 3A). For example, at 3C, this
would theoretically be 3x3000mA = 9A. However, if you are not under time pressure, it's a good idea to charge the battery with less power to
increase its life.
AC Input Voltage
AC input: This input is for normal use on a house connection. The required supply cable is enclosed. The input can be used at a voltage bet-
ween 110 and 240V AC.
DC-Input: This input allows you to use the charger with an external power adapter or a car battery. To do this, connect the crocodile clips to
the left side of the charger and connect them to the 12V-24V power source. Make sure you pay attention to the correct polarity! Red is +, black
-. To take full advantage of the charger, the power source should be at least 10A. Always disconnect the charger from the power source when
not in use.
Warning!
Never create a short circuit between the positive and negative poles! This could damage the charger and your power supply! This
charger is designed for an output power of up to 100W per output. The maximum available charging current depends on the
respective conditions (eg maximum number of cells is connected or supply voltage too low), this can accordingly be a bit lower.
This is perfectly normal in this case.

5. Special Features

Optimal Operating Software
The MODSTER 200 Charger Duo includes the so-called AUTO function which monitors the charging and discharging processes. Especially with
Li-batteries, this intelligent charger can prevent the overcharging of a battery, which can lead to an explosion due to incorrect operation of
the customer. It can stop the process and trigger an alarm in the event of any malfunction or failure. To ensure maximum security, any battery
data is continuously checked during the process.
Integrated intelligent lithium battery balancer
The MODSTER 200 Charger Duo contains an individual cell balancer. This is able to balance each battery cell individually. It is no longer neces-
sary to connect an external balancer.
Possible use with many types of batteries
This charger is suitable for many lithium battery types, such as Li-ion, LiPo, LiFe, as well as the new LiHV series, but you are also able to charge
NiMH, NiCd and Pb cells.
Storage Charging of Li-batteries
There are different variants for the charging of Li batteries, the charge and balance charge are normal charging procedures, whereas „Storage"
changes the charging end voltage and thus enables an optimal storage of the batteries over a longer period of time. This care program gua-
rantees the longest possible service life of your batteries. It is recommended to repeat this mode over longer periods of storage (eg in winter)
at regular intervals (approximately every 2 months).
Safety equipment- Maximum safety for your work
Delta-peak sensitivity: The automatic loading process abort is based on the Delta Peak voltage measurement. If the battery pack exceeds a
specified voltage, the process will automatically stop.
Automatic charging current limitation:
You can change the charging current limit while charging NiCd / NiMH; this is useful in the ‚Auto' charge mode of low discharge rate batteries
and capacity.
Capacity limitation:
The charged capacity is calculated from the charging current and the time spent. If the loaded capacity exceeds the maximum value you have
set, the loading process will be automatically canceled.
