Protection against static electricity
OPTISWITCH version with plastic housing, plastic-coated or enamelled parts is provided with a
warning signal referrring to the safety instructions in case of electrostatic charge during installation, in
the factory and especially during maintenance work:
Attention: Plastic parts! Danger of static charge!
- Avoid friction
- No dry cleaning
- Do not mount in pneumatic filling stream
5. Mechanical fixation
At the risks by pendulum, the OPTISWITCH have to be secured by an effective brace against these
dangers.
6. Stroke and friction
OPTISWITCH have to be mounted such, that stroke and friction sparks between aluminium and steel
will be avoided (exceptionally stainless steel, if rust particles can be excluded).
7. Use of an overvoltage arrester
For applications requiring instruments of category 1/2 G, OPTISWITCH of type series 5**0C VF10.C,
VF15.C, VF11.C, VF16.C with integral oscialltor SW E60NEX do not require lightning protection
measures acc. to TRbF100 No.8 paragr. 1 resp. EN60079-14.
When using as category 1G instrument, acc. to TRbF100 No.8 paragr. 1 resp. EN60079-14,
OPTISWITCH should be connected to a suitable overvoltage arrester e.g. type B62-36G.
8. Chemical resistance
Please make sure that the sensor material is resistant against the products in which OPTISWITCH is
used.
9. Grounding
For applications requiring instruments of category 1 or 1/2, the vibrating level switches have to be
connected to the potential equalization electrostatically (contact resistance ≤1MΩ ) e.g. via earth
terminal.
