Measuring principle

The infrared thermometer measures the surface temperature by focussing the IR radiation
emitted, reflected or transmitted by an object on a detector. The detector emits an electric signal
based on the radiation which is processed by the thermometer. The laser is for aiming purposes
only.
Due to the functional principle, you have to mind the following points:
1.
It is not recommended to use the infrared thermometer on shiny or polished metal
surfaces (stainless steel, aluminium, etc.).
2.
The meter cannot measure through transparent surfaces, such as glass. Instead, the
thermometer will measure the surface temperature of the glass.
3.
Steam, dust, smoke, etc. can affect the accuracy of the measurements heavily.
