Find a suitable place for installation of the charger, in a distance from the battery, which does not exceed the
enclosed 12V-charger cable length on 1,5m. If the charger cable is lengthen or cut, the charger will charge with
wrong voltage. If the 12V cable is extended, you have to use a cable with a larger cross-section. If you double
the length the cross-section on 2.5 mm
with the enclosed fuse. Fit the charger on a flat, vertical surface. Route the cables straight away from the contacts
on the battery charger so that PlugIn contacts are not bent or twisted. In the lower fastening point there are two
slots, which makes sure that condensation gets out of the charger. The charger must be positioned vertically
with these slots facing down because of drain. Drill an 8mm hole for fastening; drill a pilot hole using a 4mm drill.
12V system
Fasten the charger, using tree of the four fastening points, always use the two on the side and either the upper
or the lower fastening point. Use the enclosed spacer to make a flat installation area, use washer on both sides
of the spacer.
24V system
When charging a 24V system you have to use two 12V chargers. On the 230V side two chargers may be connected
directly together or you may place the chargers separate with a PlugIn cable in between. It is most important that
each charger secures using a fuse
not be series circuit. Where two chargers are connected without using PlugIn cable in between, the enclosed
metal sleeve
will lock the chargers in the common, middle fastening point. See to that the chargers are cor-
rectly connected, that they are placed in line and that they are not twisted in proportion to one another. Use all
the fastening points in the middle in addition to two points at the top or bottom.
It is most important that the charger is installed in accordance with the installation guide and that DEFA´s
original connection equipment is used, see specific installation guide.
Some vehicles have a battery monitoring system. Connect ground according to the vehicle
manufacturers recommendation.
•
The charger is able to charge both 12- and 24V system.
•
By 24V, two chargers have to be used, see the wiring diagram.
•
The charger has an advanced electronics that makes it possible to stay connected to the battery
continuously. When charging, batteries must have periodically inspection.
•
Temperature compensated charging voltage makes sure that the charging voltage for the
battery is optimal under all conditions.
•
Light indication during charging, boost mode (red) and maintenance (green). If the battery
during maintenance charging is charged in such a way that the battery voltage falls below 13V,
the charger switches to full effect (boost mode).
•
The charger has a 230V outlet which might be used to connect two chargers, or as an outlet for
other DEFA equipment.
•
The charger is short circuit- and polarity protected, assumed that the enclosed fuse is installed.
•
Charging of batteries in closed areas must be avoided cause of explosion danger. The charger
contents of high voltage current and must therefor not be opened or drilled in.
