SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Attention!
When using the machine certain safety precautions must
be implemented in order to avoid injuries and damage.
Therefore, read through these operating instructions /
safety instructions carefully. Store these safely so that
the information is always available to you. In the event
of the machine being handed on to another person,
please hand on these operating instructions / safety in-
structions too. We accept no liability for accidents or da-
mage caused as a result of disregarding these operating
instructions or the safety instructions.
Safety instructions
WARNING
Read all safety instructions and operating instructions.
A failure to comply with the operating instructions or sa-
fety instructions can lead to electric shocks, burns and/or
serious injuries.
Keep the safety instructions and operating instruc-
tions safely for future use.
Safety equipment
When working with the device the corresponding plastic
protective cover for the blade work or strimming line work
must be fitted in order to prevent objects being ejected
at high speed. The blade integrated into the protective
cover for the strimming line cuts the line automatically to
the optimum length.
1. Read the operating instructions carefully. Familiarise
yourself with the settings and the correct use of the
machine.
2. Never allow children or other persons who are not
familiar with the operating instructions to use the ma-
chine. Local regulations may stipulate a minimum age
for operators.
3. Never mow whilst other persons, in particular children
or animals, are nearby.
Warning:
Observe a safety distance of 15 m. If approached
switch the machine off immediately.
Bear in mind that the operator or user of the machine
is responsible for accidents involving other people or
their property.
Preparatory measures
1. Sturdy footwear and long trousers should always be
worn whilst mowing. Do not mow barefoot or whilst
wearing light sandals.
2. Check the area where the machine is to be used
and remove any objects that could be caught up and
thrown.
3. Warning: Petrol is highly inflammable:
- Store petrol exclusively in containers intended for this
purpose.
- Only fill the tank outdoors and do not smoke whilst
filling the tank.
- Petrol should be filled in before starting the motor.
The tank sealing cap should not be opened and pe-
trol should not be filled in whilst the motor is running
or whilst the machine is still hot.
- If petrol overflows then do not try to start the motor. In-
stead, the machine should be removed from the area
where the petrol has been spilled. Do not attempt to
start the machine until the petrol vapour has dissipa-
ted completely.
- For safety reasons petrol tanks and other tank con-
nections must be replaced if they are damaged.
4. Replace faulty silencers.
5. Before using carry out a visual check to ensure that
the cutting tools, fastening bolts and the complete cut-
ting unit are not worn out or damaged. In order to avo-
id an imbalance worn out or damaged cutting tools
and fastening bolts should be replaced in complete
sets.
Handling
1. Wear tight-fitting, sturdy work clothes, that offer
protection, such as long trousers, sturdy work shoes,
tough work gloves, a protective helmet, a protective
mask for the face or protective goggles to protect the
eyes and good earplugs or other hearing protection to
protect against the noise.
2. Store the device in a safe place. Open the petrol
cap slowly in order to release any pressure that may
have built up in the petrol tank. In order to avoid fire
hazards, make sure that you are at least 3 metres
from the refuelling area before starting the device.
3. Switch the device off, before setting it down.
4. Always hold the device firmly with both hands. In
doing so thumbs and fingers should wrap completely
around the handle.
5. Take care that bolts and fastening elements are
firmly tightened. Never operate the device if it has
not been correctly set up or is not complete or secu-
rely assembled.
6. Take care that the handles are dry and clean and
that there is no petrol mix on them.
7. Guide the strimming head at the desired height.
Avoid touching small objects (e.g. stones) with the
strimming head. When mowing on a slope always
stay downhill of the cutting device. Never cut or strim
on a slick or slippery hill or slope.
8. Check the area to be mowed, solid objects such as
stones, metal parts etc. can be picked up and ejected
at high speed. Danger of injury!
9. Keep all parts of the body and all of your clothing
far from the strimming head, when starting or run-
ning the motor. Before starting the motor do not forget
that the strimming head must not come into contact
with any obstacle.
10. Always turn off the motor before working on the cut-
ting device.
11. Store the device and accessories securely, pro-
tected from naked flames and sources or heat/
sparks such as gas water heaters, clothes driers, oil
stoves or portable radiators etc.
12. Always keep the protective cover, strimming head
and the motor free of mowing residue.
13. Only appropriately trained adults are permitted to
operate, adjust and service the device.
