approved with original accessory elements
(e.g. air filters).
 The unit may only be operated with origi-
nal components.
 Modifications and alterations to units are
not permitted and release the manufacturer
from any guarantee obligations and liability.

event of a fire or chemicals accident etc.
 Switch the entire ventilation system off im-
mediately until the outside air is safe again.
 Close the shutters on all PP 45 O units.

when operating with air-ventilated
fireplaces.
Ensure sufficient supply air intake during
operation with air-ventilated fireplaces. Note
maximum permissible pressure difference
per housing unit. The consent of a professio-
nal chimney sweep is needed in all cases.

and fire protection requirements in the instal-
lation instructions.

5 Function

PP 45 are ventilation units with heat recov-
ery (WRG). In WRG mode, a ceramic heat
exchanger stores the heat from the exhaust
air flow. This heat is then transferred to the
passing supply air entering the rooms – heat-
ed air flows into the rooms.
The ventilation system should be switched on
permanently.
In WRG mode, the ventilation unit pairs
switch alternately between supply air
and exhaust air mode every 60 seconds.
This ensures alternate ventilation and air
extraction in living areas.
In cross-ventilation mode (without WRG),
the ventilation units work permanently in one
direction in supply air or exhaust air mode.
If a humidity, CO or air quality sensor (VOC)

is connected to a ventilation unit, demand-
driven automatic operation with sensor control
can be manually activated.
Depending on the sensor values measured
(H, CO , VOC), the volumetric flow of the

devices is gradually adjusted. The operating
mode is retained.

5.1 Master/slave

With radio-controlled systems (Maico-Smart),
associated unit pairs work in master-slave
mode. Slave units (RC ventilation units, radio
sensors, radio switches etc.) are taught in on
the master unit.
The master unit is then responsible for han-
dling with the slave unit  Chapter 7.

5.2 Service mode

Mode intended for the specialist installer to
set and set up the unit functions and to regis-
ter wired sensors  Installation instructions.
