5. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

In case of damage caused by non-observance of these operating instructions, the warranty gets
void! We are not liable for any consequential damage!
We are not liable for property damage or injuries caused by improper use or non-observance of
safety instructions! Such circumstances will void the warranty!
Dear customer, the following safety instructions and hazard warnings serve not only to protect the device
but your health as well.
Read all safety and operating instructions before operating the device.
• This product has left the factory in perfect safety-related condition.
• To maintain this condition and ensure safe operation, the user must observe all safety instructions and
warnings included in this manual.
• Unauthorized modifications and/or alterations to the product are not permitted due to safety and
approval reasons (CE).
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device. Consult a
professional if you require assistance with product operation, safety or connection.
• The product is not a toy and must not be used by children!
• For installations in industrial facilities, follow the accident prevention regulations for electrical systems
and equipment of the government safety organization or the corresponding authority for your country.
• In schools and training facilities and hobby and self-help workshops, the use of measuring devices
must be monitored by trained and responsible personnel.
• The voltage between the product and the ground potential must not exceed 1000 V DC/AC for CAT III
or 600 V DC/AC for CAT IV.
• Special attention is required when handling voltages of >33 V alternating (AC) or >70 V direct current
(DC)! Even at such voltages you can receive a life-threatening electric shock upon contact with
electric wires.
• Before every measurement, check the product for damage. Never conduct measurements if the
protective insulation is damaged (torn, missing, etc.). The flexible current sensor features a wear
indicator. If damaged, a second insulating layer of a different color becomes visible. Damaged test
leads cannot be replaced. The product must not be used anymore and must be replaced.
• To prevent electric shock, make sure not to touch the connections/measuring points to be measured
directly or indirectly during measurement. Do not reach beyond the indicated grip area (4) when
measuring.
• Do not use the product shortly before, during or shortly after a thunderstorm (risk of electric shock
/ high energy over voltage). Please make sure that your hands, shoes, clothing, the floor, switches,
switching components, etc. are dry.
• Avoid use in the direct vicinity of:
- strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields
- transmitting antennas or high-frequency generators.
Failure to do so may falsify readings.
