Installing/Replacing the lamp

Disconnect from power and allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before opening the head.
During the operation, the lamp reaches temperatures of up to 600° C. Thus, wear heat-
resistant gloves safety gloves and safety glasses when handling lamps.
Suitable lamps
The fixture is designed for use with the following lamps:
OMNILUX OSD 5 Reflector 200W discharge lamp
MSD Platinum 5R discharge lamp
Do not install lamps with a higher wattage! Lamps with a higher wattage generate temperatures the device
was not designed for. Damages caused by nonobservance are not subject to warranty.
Lamp life
The lamp life given by the manufacturer must never be exceeded. This is why you need to monitor lamp
hours using the operating hour meter in the Control Board. Due to the extreme heat associated with the 5R
discharge lamp and the compact size of the internal optical system it is imperative that the lamp be replaced
every 2000 hours. This is done to protect the internal optical system as well as prevent accidental lamp
explosion.
Never exceed the lamp's average service life by more than 10%. Replace the lamp immediately if it is
deformed or in any way defective.
Procedure
During the installation do not touch the glass-bulbs bare-handed! Please follow the lamp manufacturer's
notes.
Step 1: Disconnect the fixture from power.
Step 2: First loosen the fixation screws B, C and D of the lamp system on the back of the head.
Unscrew fixation screw A just enough so that you can push the cover plate to the side.
Step 3: If replacing the lamp, first remove the old lamp. Carefully remove the two blade terminals from the
lamp base.
Step 4: If installing a lamp for the first time, please note that the two blade terminals are insulated with
tape or a mounted connector. Please completely remove the tape and in the case of a
connector, this can be easily pulled off. When testing or storing the spotlight without installed
lamps, please insulate the connections again against each other and touching the case.
Step 5: Insert the new lamp gently. The lamp must noticeably snap into place and fit snugly. You may
have to carefully press one of the two brackets when installing, so that the lamp clicks into
position.
Step 6: Connect the two lamp terminals with the two blade terminals of the connection wires. This is
easiest to do with a pair of flat nose pliers.
Step 7: Replace the lamp system cover and tighten the fixation screws.
Caution! The 5R lamp is not a hot-restrike type. You must wait at least 15 minutes before you can
attempt to strike the lamp once it has been turned off!
Caution! Do not operate the fixture with opened cover!
