2. Installation
Unpacking
•
Check the integrity of the unit after unpacking.
The box includes (code F101A0700)
•
ECODryBlock Unit (1);
•
Instruction manual;
•
EU (Schuko) power cable;
•
US (NEMA 5-15P) power cable.
Note: blocks are not included and must be purchased separately
The box includes (code A00000489)
•
ControlPad (4) for ECODryBlock;
•
Connecting element for ControlPad (3) with seven screws and Allen key.
Installation of a single Unit and ControlPad
•
Place the Unit on a non-flammable surface;
•
Turn the Unit upside down and fasten the Connecting element for ControlPad (3) on the front part of the bottom of
the device using the three hex socket head screws and the supplied Allen key;
•
Pass the ControlPad cable through the Connecting element for ControlPad, then plug the circular connector into the
appropriate socket (E) on the left side of the Unit. Secure the cable to the bottom of the instrument by placing it into
the retaining clips;
•
Secure the ControlPad to the Connecting element for ControlPad by simply pressing it into place. An audible "click"
confirm that the ControlPad is securely attached.
Installation of an additional unit with accessory "Kit ECODryBlock junction" (A00000531) (optional)
•
Turn the Unit upside down and unplug the ControlPad cable from the connector of the unit (E). Remove the cable
from the retaining clips;
•
Connect the female socket of the power cable provided with the Kit ECODryBlock junction to the upper connector of
the Unit (A) to which the ControlPad is attached;
•
Position the metal junction element (included in the kit) on the bottom of the Unit to which the ControlPad is attached
and secure it with three hex socket head screws;
•
Place the second Unit behind the frontal Unit to which the ControlPad is attached and route the power cable
provided with the Kit ECODryBlock junction between the metal junction element and the bottom of the second unit;
•
Secure the metal junction element to the second Unit with four hex socket head screws;
•
Connect the male plug of the power cable provided with the Kit ECODryBlock junction to the lower socket (B) of the
second Unit;
•
Route the ControlPad cable through the metal junction element, then plug the circular connector into the appropriate
socket on the left side of the first Unit (E). Secure the cable again by placing it into the retaining clips;
•
It is also possible to install the second Unit without the Kit ECODryBlock junction. In this case, simply connect the
Unit to a separate power outlet using the standard power cable provided;
•
The Unit to which the ControlPad cable is connected is designated as Unit 1.
Installation – final steps
•
Rotate the instrument back to its normal position;
•
Assure that the heating plate is perfectly clean, free from dust and free from scratches. To clean the plate, use a
cloth dampened with distilled water;
•
Assure that the bottom face of the blocks is perfectly clean, free from dust and free from scratches. To clean the
blocks, use a cloth dampened with distilled water;
•
Place the blocks inside the Unit;
•
Note: the Unit must always be used with at least one single block installed. If using only one block, place it on the
left side of the heating plate. Operation without blocks is not permitted;
•
Make sure that the technical specification of the unit and of the power supply line are the same;
Note: the instrument can operate at both 115V and 230V voltage levels. However, it is possible to change supply
voltage (e.g., from 230V to 115V or from 115V to 230V) only with the hot plate is to ambient temperature.
•
Make sure that the electrical network is grounded;
•
Make sure that the main switch (C) is OFF;
•
Connect the instrument to an easily accessible socket (compliant with the current safety norms), using only the
provided power cable.
Note: Keep the power cable far away from the hot plate and from the blocks.
•
Place the "Transparent lid" (A00000493) (optional) over the Unit to have a better thermoregulation of samples.
