1. Product description
The term device refers to the electronic ankle prosthesis - ENFORCE Bionic Foot manufactured by
ENFORCE Medical Technogies LLC. The product assists walking with active damping of foot
movements in the sagittal plane, controlled by a microprocessor. The device takes real-time
measurements from built-in sensors to change the state of the magneto-rheological damper according to
the current gait phase. The device takes measurements at a frequency of 100Hz, which ensures low
latency of the control algorithm - responding dynamically to changes in the state of the prosthesis. The
damping characteristics are dependent on the user's gait pattern - adapting to the range of changes in
sole and dorsiflexion. It is possible to adjust the prosthesis to the individual needs of the user by trained
medical personnel.
The ENFORCE Prosthetic app is used for operating the device, providing the following functionalities:
• Connecting to the device via Bluetooth.
• Reading the battery charge status.
• Reading and adjusting the damper power.
• Changing the operating mode.
• Collecting statistics of steps taken on the enabled prosthesis.
• Service notifications.
• Software updates.
The application is designed to adjust the parameters of the electronic prosthesis according to the current
footwear, compensating for the influence of its shape on the performance of the control algorithm.
The device is equipped with LEDs arranged in a ring, serving to convey visual messages to the user
regarding the prosthesis's status without the need for connecting to an app. The LED indicator provides
information on:
• Percentage of battery charge.
• Current battery level during charging.
• Full charge status when connected for charging.
• Connection and disconnection of the device with the app via Bluetooth.
• On and off functions.
• Progress of a software update.
• Errors in the operation of the prosthesis.
