Removing the standard seat
The standard seat is removed from the vehicle complete
with seat rails and belt catch.
• Slide the seat into its frontmost and highest position.
• Only in the Audi A4 / Audi A5 Sportback: Unfasten
a clip and loosen a Torx T20 screw on each of the rail
covers. Remove the covers from the seat rail.
• Loosen the two M10 multi-point screws on the floor of
the vehicle at the rear.
• Move the seat into its rearmost and lowest position.
• Only in the Audi A4 / Audi A5 Sportback: Remove
the side clips on the front-most rail cover. Remove the
cover from the seat rail.
• Loosen the two M10 multi-point screws on the floor of
the vehicle at the front.
• Lift the seat at the front and remove the cover of the
connection box under the seat.
• Move the seat into its highest position.
• Loosen the electrical plug connections.
• Lift the seat completely out of the vehicle and place it
next to the vehicle.
• On the door side, pull the belt panel up and off.
• Unhook the belt. Press the nose upwards to do this.
Keep the screws, washers and lock washers in a safe
place. They will be used again to install the RECARO
seat.

Dismantling the belt catch
• Loosen the Torx T40 belt catch screw and take off the
belt catch.
• Cut through the necessary cable ties on the cable har-
ness and remove the cable of the belt catch identifier.
Keep the belt catch in a safe place. It is required for re-
installing the RECARO seat. Leave the belt catch screw
on the standard seat.

Disabling/changing the side airbag
Part of the SAB cable harness from the standard seat is
required for connecting the RECARO-SAB to the vehi-
cle. The connector to the vehicle must be disconnected
to remove the original seat. The universal interface on
the SAB cable of the standard seat must be fitted in a
suitable location and in a sufficient length between the
airbag and the airbag connector. A disabling kit with the
necessary parts and instructions is supplied with the
console.
The RECARO SAB must be connected to the SAB con-
nection in the vehicle.
The SAB in the standard seat must be disabled.
For RECARO seats without SAB, it is necessary to
disable the SAB in the vehicle.
To do this, follow the separate mounting instructions
supplied with the console for disabling the side
airbag and/or the electrical installation instructions
supplied with the console!
Installing the RECARO seat
Installing racing car seats (Pole Position 2003 with
ABE)
Different procedures for mounting the racing car seats
and racing car seat adapters are included in the operat-
ing instructions of the racing car seats.
Tightening torques
Observe the following tightening torques under all cir-
cumstances during all installation work:
M6 screws
M8 screws
M10 screws
7/16" screws
Attention
The enclosed micro-encapsulated screws may only
be used once.
Note (Figure L)
Make sure you check the designations on consoles and
adapters when you are installing the seat.
2 arrows
The arrows must point forwards in the direction of travel
towards the outside edge of the seat.
1 arrow
The arrow must point in the direction of travel.

Mounting the adapters on the seat
(Figure F)
• Lay the adapters (1) on the seat.
• Secure the adapter susing the screws (2) supplied
with the seat.

Mounting the belt catch (Figure G)
• Secure the belt catch (16) to the belt catch holder (4)
using the 7/16"x16 hexagon screw (15) and the
washer (15a) that come with the console. Reconnec-
tion when mounting the RECARO seat is as described
under Point 9.
When mounting the belt catch holder (4) with the pre-
mounted belt catch between the adapter (1) and rail (8),
the cable of the belt catch identifier must be laid through
the recess (1a) on the adapter in front of the belt catch
holder (4).
7.
Mounting the seat rail on the seat
(Figures H and I)
Hooking in the release bracket (Figure H)
• Hook the bracket (7) with the return spring (23) into
the seat rails (8). The return spring (23) must always
be mounted to the left (also on the passenger seat) on
the bracket (7).
Only vehicles with seat position sensor: Converting
the sensor (18) (Figure I)
The sensor is taken from the standard seat.
• On the standard seat, loosen the screw T20 on the
position sensor.
• Unclip the sensor.
• On the cable harness, remove the cable hose and
remove as much cable tape as necessary.
• Take the sensor and mount it onto the sensor
holder (6).
