- setthe charging current ( MIN,MED,MAX)usingthethree-way switchon thefront panel(forthe models
whichhavethis),depending o nthecharging current r equired;
- for battery c hargers w ithadjustable charging c urrent, thedirections g iven bythemanufacturer
shouldbefollowed. C harging normally takesabout10 hourswitha currentot 1/10(O,I) of thecapacity in Ah
of the battery.
E.g.: 40 Ah battery
recommended charging current=40/10 = 4A for a minimum of 10 hours:
- afterconnecting thewiresto thebattery,supplythe batterycharger w ith avoltagewhichis equalto thevol-
tagestated on the dataplate:
- once charging i sfinished, turnthebattery charger o ffbymeans o f themain switch(ifany)or byremoving

the caps provided;
CAUTION
!
if thebattery i s leftconnected tothebattery charger for many hoursafter c harging h asfinished,
thebattery c ouldbedamaged since thecurrent n ever s witches o ffandthiscouldcause excessive heating o f
the platesandthe liquidcontained in the batterymaystartto "boil". If this phenomenon alsooccursduring
charging, thecharging c urrent s hould bedecreased (formodels w hichhave a regulator) or charging s hould
be interrupted in ordertoavoiddamaging thebattery.
