Afterlocking,alwaysremove the key 5 fromthe lock6. This
prevents the keyfromfallingout andthe batterypackfrom
beingremoved fromunauthorised persons whenthe eBikeis
Toremovethe rack-typebattery pack 2, switchit off and
unlockthelockwith thekey5. Pull t he batterypackout of the
holder 1.
Removinga PowerTubeframebattery (seefigure C)
Toremovethe PowerTube f ramebattery,15 openthe
o
lock6 usingthe key5. Thebatterywill be unlocked and
fall intothe safetyrestraint14.
Presson thesafetyrestraintfromabove.Thebatterywill
be unlocked completelyandfall intoyourhand.Pullthe
batteryoutof the frame.
Note:Asa resultof varying designs, t heframebatterymay
have to beinsertedandremoved usingadifferentmethod.In
this case,consultthe bicycledocumentation providedby
yourbicyclemanufacturer.
Insertinga PowerTubeframe battery (seefigure D)
Inorderforthe batterypackto be inserted. t he key5 mustbe
inserted
into the lock 6 and the lock must be unlocked.
O ToinsertthePowerTubeframebattery, 15 placeitsothat
its contacts
are in the lower bracket of the frame.
O Pushthe batteryupwardsuntil itis heldbythe safety
restraint

O Pressthebatteryupwardsuntilyouhearitengage.Check
thatthe batteryis secure.
O Always securethe batterybyclosingthe lock6 -other-
wise,thelockmayopenandthe batterymayfall outof the
bracket.

Operation
Initial Operation
Useonly original Boschbattery packsapprovedfor
your eBike bythe manufacturer.UsingOtherbattery
packscanleadto injuriesand poseafire hazard. W hen
usingotherbatterypacks,Boschshallnot assume any
liabilityandwarranty.
SwitchingOnand Off
Switching on the batterypackis oneof the waysof switching
onthe eBikesystem.Whendoingso,readandobservethe
operatinginstructionsof thedriveunitandon-boardcom-
puter.
Beforeswitchingonthe batterypackorthe eBikesystem,
check that the lock 6 is locked.
Toswitch on thebatterypack,press the On/Offbutton4. The
LEDs of indicator3 lightup andat thesametimeindicatethe
chargecondition.
Note: If the capacityof the batterypackis below5
on thecharge-control indicator3 lightsup.It is onlyvisibleon
the on-board computer, if the eBike system is switched on.
Toswitch off the batterypack,pressthe OnlOffbutton4
again.TheLEDs of indicator3 go out.Thisalsoswitchesoff
the eBike system.
If nopowerisdrawnfromtheeBikedrivefor about10 min-
utes(e.g.because theeBikeis not moving) andno buttonis
pressed onthe on-board computer o rthe operating unitofthe
eBike,theeBikesystem andthereforealsothe batterypack
will shutdownautomatically to saveenergy.
Thebatterypackis protectedagainstdeepdischarging, over-
charging, o verheating and short-circuiting throughthe
"Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". In case of hazardous situa-
tions, a protectivecircuitautomatically switches off the
battery pack.

Notes for Optimum Handling of the Battery Pack
Thebattery•pack life canbeprolongedwhenbeingproperly
maintained andespecially whenbeingoperatedandstoredat
the right temperatures.
Withincreasing age,however,the batterypackcapacitywill
diminish,evenwhenproperlymaintained.
A significantly reducedoperatingperiodaftercharging indi-
catesthatthe batterypackiswornout andmustbe replaced.
Youcanreplacethebatterypackyourself.
Rechargingthe Battery Packprior to and during Storage
Whennot usingthe batterypackfora longerperiod.chargeit
to approx.60 %(3 to 4 LEDs lit on thecharge-control i ndi-
cator 3).
Checkthechargeconditionafter6 months. W henonly one
LEDof the charge-control indicator3 lightsup, rechargetie
battery packagainapprox.60 %.
Note: When the batterypackisstoreddischarged (empty)for
longerperiods,it canbecome damaged despitethe lowself-
discharging featureandthe battery-pack capacitymaybe
stronglyreduced.
It is not recommended to havethe battery pack connected
permanently to the charger.
Storage Conditions
Storethe batterypackin adry, well-ventilated location.
Protectthe batterypackagainstmoisture andwater.Under
unfavourable weatherconditions, i t is recommended e .g. to
no LED
removethe batterypackfromtheeBikeandstoreit in an
enclosedlocationuntil beingusedagain.
Storethe eBikebatteries in thefollowinglocations::

in aroorn with a smoke alarm
— awayfromcombustible oreasilyflammable objects
- awayfromheatsources
Storethe batteries at temperatures between Ooc and20 oc.
Never store them at temperatures below —10 oc or above
+60 cc. Toensurethat thelifetimeis aslongaspossible,
storageat approx.20 oc (roomtemperature)isrecom-

Transport
If youcarry
eBike outside Of
luggagerack, removethe eBikebattery pack in order
to avoid damagingit.
Thebatterypacksaresubjectto the Dangerous G oodsLegis-
lation requirements. P rivateuserscantransportundamaged
batterypacksbyroadwithoutfurther requirements.
Whenbeingtransportedbycommercial u sers orthird parties
(e.g.air transportorforwardingagency) , specialrequire•
mentsonpackaging andlabellingmustbeobserved (e.g.ADR
regulations). I f necessary, an expertfor hazardous materials
canbeconsultedwhenpreparingthe itemfor shipping.
Dispatchbatterypacks onlywhenthe housing is undamaged.
Tapeormaskoff opencontactsandpackupthe batterypack
insuchamannerthat itcannotmovearoundinthe packaging.
Informyour parcelservice that the package containsdanger-
ousgoods.Please alsoobservethepossibilityof morede-
tailed national r egulations.
In caseof questionsconcerning transportof the battery
packs,pleasereferto anauthorised BoscheBikedealer.The
BoscheBikedealers canalsoprovide suitabletransportpack-
aglng.
Disposal
Batterypacks,accessories a ndpackaging shouldbe
sortedfor environmental-friendly recycling.
Do notdisposeof the batterypacksintohousehold waste!
Tapeormaskoff the contactsurfacesof thebatterypack's
terminalswith adhesive tapebeforedisposingof battery
packs.
Do nottouchheavilydamaged eBikebatterieswithyour bare
hands.Electrolyte mayescape andcauseskinirritation.Store
the batteryina safelocationoutdoors.Coverthe pinsif
necessary and informyourdealer.Theywill helpyou to
disposeof it properly.
Onlyfor ECcountries:
Accordingto the European Guideline
2012/19/EU, electrical devices/tools that are
no longerusable, a ndaccordingto theEuropean
Guideline 2006/66/EC, defective or used
battery packs/batteries, m ustbecollected
separately and disposed of in an environmental-
ly correctmanner.
