proper seating after initial installation,
after making a short trip (approx. 50 km)
and then before every trip, and re-tighten
if necessary. Always have damaged parts
replaced with original spare parts imme-
diately. Repeat checking at regular inter-
vals, also depending on the type of road
surface, at least every 500 km.
In the event of unusual noise or changes
Z
to the handling of the vehicle, check that
the load and the rear carrier system / ac-
cessories are firmly seated.
If the rear carrier system moves on the
Z
coupling head, the clamping force must
be adjusted as per the installation man-
ual.
Risk of accident from folding down while
driving
If the rear carrier system is not correctly
engaged in the transport position, it may
swivel down in an uncontrolled way while
driving and cause accidents .
Ensure that the rear carrier system is

completely and securely engaged in the
transport position.

Damage caused by increased vehicle
dimensions
Fitting the rear carrier system / accessories
increases the dimensions of the vehicle.
Please pay attention to the new vehicle
Z
dimensions while driving (e.g. underpass-
es, multi-storey car parks).
When using the rear carrier system,
Z
please note that the function of the park-
ing sensors and reversing camera may be
restricted .
Damage caused by lack of freedom of
movement
Lack of freedom of movement between the
load and the vehicle can cause damage in
the event of heavy braking or undulations.
Check the freedom of movement in rela-
Z
tion to the vehicle when the rear carrier
system is being swivelled downwards.
Check the freedom of movement be-
Z
tween the load and the vehicle when driv-
ing (e.g. in vehicles with a steep rear end).
Damage due to increased wind loads or
vibration
Do not wrap bicycles in tarpaulins.
Z
Remove parts of the load which may be
Z
easily lost before setting off (e.g. bike
pump, child seat, baskets, locks).
Damage cause by hot exhaust
Hot exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe of
the vehicle can cause damage to bicycles
and the rear carrier system / accessories.
Ensure that there is sufficient clearance
Z
between the rear carrier system, the bicy-
cles and the exhaust pipe.
Damage caused by automatic tailgate
opening system
An automatic boot or tailgate opening sys-
tem can cause damage to the vehicle and
the rear carrier system.
Deactivate the automatic opening system
Z
with the rear carrier system attached.
Open the boot manually.
