RECORDING
@ Monitoring
"Monitoring" is to listen, through the Built-in Speakers, headphones,
or external speakers, to the sound as it is being recorded: Sound can
be monitored in the following way:
@When recording from the radio, the sound being recorded can be
monitored through the Built-in Speakers, headphones, or external
speakers.
eWhen recording from a sound source connected to the Microphone
Jacks or Line-Input Jacks, the sound being recorded can be
monitored through the Built-in Speakers, headphones, or external
speakers.
e@Sound cannot be monitored with this unit when recording with the
DIN connector.
@To
prevent "howling"
(a high-pitched squeal) when
recording
through the Built-in Microphones,
sound cannot be monitored
through the Built-in Speakers (or external speakers) or headphones
during recording.
@When recording through the external microphones and monitoring
the sound, use headphones.
If necessary to adjust the volume level of the sound being monitored,
do so by using the Volume Control.

Note:
ifexternal microphones are placed too close to the speakers in
this unit, a high-pitched squeal may be heard. !f so, place the
microphones as far away from the speakers as possible, or
reduce the volume.
Headphones
@ About the Tape Counter and Reset Button
Convenient for easily finding any desired part of the tape quickly. The
digits return to "000" by pushing the Reset Button.
@ Recording Radio Broadcasts
You can record radio programs while listening.
1) Follow the same procedure as described in section 'LISTENING
TO THE RADIO".
) Insert the cassette into the Cassette Compartment.
) Depending on the cassette used, set the Tape Selector.
) Depress the Pause Button and then depress the Record Button.
) Depress and release the Pause Button and the recording will
begin.
) To stop the recording, depress the Stop Button.
7) The radio can be turned off by setting the Function Selector to the
"(OFF position.

@Beat-proof switch
When an MW or LW broadcast is being recorded, the ''beat-proof"
switch (BEAT PROOF) can be used to reduce unwanted
''beat'"'
signals and noise, which were not heard before recording. Set the
switch to whichever position best reduces such noise.
@ Recording through the Built-in Microphones
@The built-in condenser microphones of this unit are non-directional,
so that recordings can be made regardless of the direction they are
facing.
1) Set the Function Selector to the '""TAPE"' position.
2) Follow the same procedure as described in step (2)~(5) of the
section ''Recording Radio Broadcasts".
3) To stop the recording, depress the Stop Button.
@ Recording through the External Microphones
1) Connect optional external microphones to the Microphone Jacks.
The Built-in Microphones will be automatically disconnected. (To
switch the microphones on and off at a distance from the set,
connect a remote control switch to the Remote Control Connection
Jack.)
2) Follow the same procedure as described in section 'Recording
through the Built-in Microphone''.
Note:
@Use two microphones which both have the same specifica-
tions.
@ Monaural Recording
To make a monaural recording, set the Mode Selector to the "MONO"
position, and then proceed in the same way as for a stereo recording.
