4) Set the Mode Selector to the "STEREO" or "MONO" position.
5) Depress the Playback Button, and playback will begin.
6) Adjust the Volume, Bass, and Treble Controls.
7) To stop the playback, depress the Stop Button. At the end of the

power will be shut off.
@ Fast Forward and Rewind
The tape can be rapidly moved (to the left) by depressing the Fast-
Forward Button.
The tape can be rapidly rewound (to the right) by depressing the
Rewind Button.
Note:
Do not depress the Playback Button during fast forward or
rewind, because the tape may become tangled; be sure to first
depress the Stop Button.
@ Automatic Stop
When the tape reaches its end during playback or recording, tape
recorder controls will return to their original position and the power of
the tape recorder will be automatically turned off.
Note, however, that the power is not turned off if the Function Selector
is set to the "LINE" or "RADIO" position. To turn off the power,

™@ Tape Programme Sensor System
When setting the Tape Programme Sensor system for listening to a
music tape, for instance, the set will select automatically the desired
programme on the tape and play will begin automatically from the start
of that programme.
Procedure:
1) Follow the same procedure as described in step (1)—(6) of the
section of "'PLAYBACK'"'.
2) Set the Tape Programme Sensor Selector to the desired position.
If it is set to position "3" the sensor system will count the intervals
between the programmes starting from the one which is ready to
be played back, it will stop the tape at the third interval, and the
tape will be played back automatically from that position.
Depress the Fast-Forward or Rewind Button with the Playback
Button locked.
2
Notes:
elf the Tape Programme Sensor Selector is set to position "3"
when the seventh programme on the tape is being heard, and
if the Fast-Forward
Button
is depressed,
the tape will
automatically stop at position (B) (interval) in figure below
and play will then begin. If the Rewind Button is depressed,
the tape will be rewound to position (A) (interval) and play will
then begin—i.e. if you want to rewind three programmes, set
the Tape Programme Sensor Selector to the ''4"' position
(the ''4'' is 3 programmes plus 1).

elf the procedure is performed with the Pause Button locked,
the tape will be rapidly advanced or rewound to the desired
programme and continue to stop there, (Do not remove the
cassette under this condition because the tape may be
slack.)
@How to make interval
TPS functions not only with music tapes but with your recorded tapes,
if they have interval of over 3 seconds.
Set this unit in the recording condition (refer to RECORDING") and
operate the numerical order.
1) Push and hold the Record Muting Button for 3-5 seconds after a
piece is finished recording. (No sound will be recorded while
depressing, but the pointers of the LED meter deflect.)
2) Push the Pause Button.
3) Take your hand off the Record Muting Button.
4) Release the Pause Button to record again.
@ Inthe following instances the Tape Programme Sensor
system may not operate normally although this does
not indicate a failure.
*With tapes of conversations having a great many gaps in the dialog
*With music tapes having tracks where extremely low and with tapes
having portions among the tracks there no sound has been recorded
*With tapes whose whole programme has been recorded at a low
level
*With tapes having intervals less than 3 seconds long
*With tapes where there is a high level of noise during the intervals
