2. Operating principle
The 0270
TC records
the SMPTE
head.
The timecode electronics system has been fully integrated into the C270 chassis and, by use of a
microprocessor, user controls have been kept to a minimum without sacrificing specification.
The system will correctly read and record timecode at 24,25,29 and 30 frame standards. The intemal
microprocessor calculates in real time the offsets required between the audio and timecode record
heads, (whilst recording), and the audio and timecode replay heads (in PLAY mode), and the audio
record and timecode record heads when in sync mode. The system also takes into account the machine
speed.
A "GOOD CODE" LED indicator shows either the quality of timecode being replayed or that timecode is
being supplied to the 0270 from an external source in RECORD and "RECORD READY' mode.
Bymeans of the STUDERTLS4000 Mkll synchronizer master and slave of the types 0270 TC/C274/C278
can be linked to eachother. The TLS 4000 Mkll, equipped with the interface C27)(, can be connected to
the time code outputs as well as to the parallel remote control connections of master and slave. The
master tape drive data are transmitted by the MASTER TALLIES cable and the slave is controlled by the
TLS 4000 Mkll through the PARALLEL REMOTE CABLE.

3.3 Playback Mode
Load a centre-track timecode tape and set machine into play, the "GOOD CODE" LED will light, indicating
that the system is reading the tape correctly. Timecode will be available at the output XLR.
