Information about inspection records can be found in the inspection and maintenance log on the reverse of
this sheet.
Life: The use cycle is three years and needs to be checked before each use
Transport: The harness should be placed in a sealed bag and then put in a suitable carton to transport.
Inspection: Harnesses must be inspected on an annual basis by a qualified inspector. This person shall decide
whether the harness has to be removed from service or not. During the course of work, all reasonable efforts
should be made to ensure that the harness is protected from potential damage, i.e.: cuts, burns, caustic chemical
exposure, abrasive elements, etc. If the harness is used in an environment where dangers such as this are
prevalent, the harness should be inspected for damage both before and after use.
Cleaning: Harnesses may be cleaned with household grade soap and water. Do not use acidic or basic solvents
(caustic soda). Allow harnesses to dry in a ventilated room far from heat sources and away from direct sunlight.
Maintenance: Personal Energy Absorbers and Energy-Absorbing Lanyards requiring maintenance must be
tagged "unusable" and removed from service.
Cleaning and maintenance may be performed by the user.
Snap hooks and carabiners may require periodic lubrication. Do not apply oil, grease, or other contaminants on
the lanyard. Use a dry lubricant that has proper resistance to temperature extremes, moisture, and corrosion.
Do not over-lubricate.
Storage: When not in use, Personal Energy Absorbers and Energy-Absorbing Lanyards should be stored in a
cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Do not store in areas where damage from environmental factors such as
heat, light, excessive moisture, oil, chemicals, and their vapours, or other degrading elements may be present.
Do not store damaged equipment or equipment in need of maintenance in the same area as a product
approved for use. Equipment must be cleaned and dried prior to storage. Equipment that has been stored
