Fall Arrester with 10m Rope (Movable Guide)
User Manual - EN
Warning: make sure you have read and understood these instructions before using the rotating fall arrester (rope
grab) with 10m rope (movable guide). The safety system may only be used by persons who have been trained in its
correct application and use and are in good physical and mental condition. Emergency plans must be available for
all eventualities and rescue operations in case of a fall must be able to be carried out quickly. Suspension trauma
must be avoided at all costs.
Remarks
• Before each application all parts/components must be checked for damage due to deformation, cracks or wear
(visual and functional check).
• If any damage is found, the product must be disposed of and must never be used again.
• Individual components of the system may not be replaced. The entire system must be replaced.
• Only the components included in the ACE Instruments system may be used and may not be expanded with
components from other manufacturers.
• In case of a fall, the equipment must be disposed of and may not be reused. Individual components of the sys-
tem may not be replaced. The entire system must be replaced.
• The equipment shall not be used outside its limitations,or for any purpose other than that for which it is intended.
• The equipment must be inspected annually (every 12 months) by a specially trained person (expert). This person
decides whether the product may continue to be used or must be disposed of. The maximum useful life is 3
years.
• It is essential for safety that the anchor device or anchor point should always be positioned, and the work carried
out in such a way, as to minimise both the potential for falls and potential fall distance.
• Anchor device/point placed above user location.
• It is essential for safety to verify the free space required beneath the user at the workplace before each occa-
sion of use, so that, in the case of a fall , there will be no collision with the ground or other obstacle in the fall
path.
• The procedure is to be strictly adhered to cleaning procedure, including disinfection where applicable, without
causing adverse effect on the materials used in the manufacture of the equipment, or to the user.
• When the equipment becomes wet, either from being in use or when due to cleaning, it shall be allowed to dry
naturally, and shall be kept away from direct heat.
• Need for regular periodic examinations, and that the safety of users depends up on the continued efficiency and
durability of the equipment.
• Periodic examinations are only to be conducted by a competent person for periodic examination and strictly in
accordance with the manufacturer's periodic examination procedures.
• The equipment must be protected from material hazardous influences during use and storage. These include,
for example, extreme temperatures (maximum application range -20°C to 40°C), sharp edges in the environment,
chemical substances, UV radiation, high voltage, heat/flames, etc. Use the supplied storage bag for transport.
Store the goods in a dry and dark place.
• The product can be cleaned with warm water (max. 60°C) and mild soapy water and, after rinsing with clean
water at room temperature, dried without exposure to sun/heat.
• The danger of moving machines in the vicinity of the application must be taken into account.
• If the marking of the equipment is no longer visible/present, it must be disposed of and may no longer be used.
• Record inspections in the inspection and maintenance log or on the back of the manual.
• In case of resale to another country, the manufacturer undertakes to provide an information brochure about the
official language spoken in the final country.
Purpose: The rope grab (fall arrester) with 10m rope (movable guide) is part of your personal protective equipment
and protects you from free fall in case of a fall. It is used vertically and serves as a safety device when climbing a
ladder or steep roofs, for example. The product must not be used for other applications. The maximum weight of
the user including clothing, equipment and tools is 100kg. We recommend, if possible, that the product is only made
available to individuals for personal use. This will ensure correct adjustment and adaptation to the wearer and will
provide the possibility of tracking.
Components
Kernmantle Rope: 10m
Fall Arrester: silver/blue according to EN353-2, aluminium
Strap Fall Absorber: 100% polyester, black and white, 2m total length (closed 40cm)
Belt Attachment: Carabiner, silver, with safety catch, Breaking strength: 25KN
Stop Carabiner: silver, with safety catch, refractive index: 25 KN

Requirements: before you start using the product, the following points must be clarified:
Rope (Movable Guide): the rope with a diameter of 12 mm must be attached at the upper end to a suitable anchorage
point for the application by means of the already fixed carabiner and should be directly above the user's head so
that no pendulum effect can occur in case of a fall. The anchorage point must withstand a resistance of at least 12 kN
and must not have any sharp edges that could damage the system. It is also possible to secure the product with a
suitable sling. The anchor point must comply with EN795. No other rope than the one supplied must be used.
Rope Grab (Fall-Arrest Device): The fall-arrest device suitable for 12mm ropes must run with the arrow printed on
it upwards in the direction of the karabiner, which is attached to a sling point in accordance with EN795. Only the
supplied rope may be used.
Lanyard: The lanyard must be attached to a suitable eyelet/ring on the safety harness according to EN361.
Belt: The safety belt used must comply with EN361 and be in an appropriate position in relation to the fall arrester.
It is also recommended that the connecting element of the rope grab is attached to one of the front eyelets. If the
harness to be used is only a 1-point fall arrest harness (for these harnesses only the dorsal D-ring (=ring on the back)
should be used in most cases).
End Securing: the movable guide must be equipped with an end securing device. This can be e.g. a knot (rope end
knot) or similar. The end safety device prevents the rope grab from unintentionally slipping off and in case of a knot it
must be secured at the bottom end as an end safety device so that the movable guide is taut. Alternatively a weight
can be attached to maintain the tension of the movable guide.
Local Conditions: please check if the product is suitable for your application (EN363:2002). Please also note the
following:
• The minimum working height (clearance height) is 6.5m. This is calculated by the length of the strap fall attenua-
tor + stretching of the materials + 1m safety distance to the floor
• Make sure that there are no objects underneath you that could touch you in case you fall
• The maximum height of the attachment point that can be exceeded is the length of the fastener
Application: After all requirements have been tested and conformity has been established, the karabiner, which is
located on the upper part of the movable guide (rope), can be attached to a suitable attachment point. Make sure
that the correct direction of travel of the fall arrester is observed - the arrow (UP) on the fall arrester (rope grab) must
move upwards in the direction of the anchorage point. In case of end securing by means of accounts (end rope
knots), this must be secured downwards to protect the rope from entanglement. Then fasten the hook of the fall
arrester in your safety harness. Use the appropriate ring/fitting eyelet for this purpose.
Proceed as Follows for the Upward Movement: the rope grab automatically moves with the upward movement. A
slack condition of the rope (moving guide) must be prevented.
For the Downwards Movement Proceed as Follows: Open the mechanism of the rope grab by pushing the blue
eyelet upwards. The brake shoes now release from the rope and allow the fall arrester to be pushed off. Now move
it downwards to the maximum. Then move it down the possible length (= 2 x length of the connecting means). After
you have gone down the possible length open the rope grab again and push it down again. Repeat the previously
mentioned steps. A slack condition of the rope (movable guide) must be prevented.
