Short manual AE 5290 XLS – Fast to the point
Programming of the desired country setting (before first use or border crossing)
Programming: hold SCAN key and turn on the radio. Select the desired mode for your
country by turning the channel switch (see the following table and radio passport). Switch off
and on radio for storing.

VOL/ OFF Turn radio on, set desired volume (counter clockwise = off-position)
SQUELCH manually adjustable Squelch knob, adjust to the point where noise just
disappears or more clockwise depending on desired sensitivity.
ASQ Turn Squelch fully counter clockwise (switch will click): automatic noise
dependent squelch system - ensures always the best possible
receiving sensitivity for CB signals – even from large distance
AM/FM select the desired modulation
CHANNEL Select the desired channel (rotary switch or use UP/ DOWN buttons at
microphone)
MIC hold the PTT- button at the microphone until you finished transmitting
(distance 5cm to 10cm to the mouth)
MEMO press MEMO shortly – select channel 1 - 5
Save MEMO press MEMO about 2 seconds (Display shows ME) - select memory
number with channel switch (1 – 5) - press MEMO shortly again
Quit MEMO press MEMO shortly to toggle between standard channel switch and
memories
SCAN press SCAN shortly to start or to stop scanning of all channels
MEMO SCAN press SCAN longer to start scanning of the 5 memory channels
