PLEASE READ COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO
ATTEMPTING INSTALLATION !
Preparation:
You may need to loosen or remove several parts
in the cockpit area to gain sufficient access and
room for the installation.
First remove the windshield of your R1200GS.
Loosen the screws on the sides by the windshield
adjustment and remove the bolt, nut and the two
spacers. These parts can easily fall out and get
lost! Then loosen the two windshield supports in
front in the middle of the windshield and remove
the windshield.
NOTE: The four bolts on the sides of the BMW
tubular cockpit bar are unfortunately painted over
and can be very hard to loosen on some bikes!
(pic. 1)
We have described TWO ways to gain better
accessibility to those bolts and you may also
need to scrape the paint off of the sides of the
screw heads if they won't open with relative ease.
Be careful not to damage the Torx #25 screws!
1st OPTION) Make sure the ignition is off and
carefully disconnect the speedometer unit
connector on the back. Carefully remove the
three silver colored C-clips behind the
speedometer unit. Two are pretty easy to remove
but the third is harder to get to. You may also
need to press them a bit back into shape when
reassembling the unit. Now you should have
sufficient room to remove the two bolts on both
sides of the BMW tubular cockpit bar (pic.1)

2nd OPTION) Remove headlight guard if such is installed.
Loosen the bolt on both side that supports the complete
headlight/instrument panel unit. This bolt is right between the
blinker and the windshield adjustment.
Make sure the ignition is off and carefully disconnect the
speedometer unit connector on the back. Now loosen the two
bolts on both sides of the silver support bracket that holds the
blinkers as well as the BMW tubular cockpit bar. One screw is
under the small black plastic cover that pops out quite easily
Installation:
Remove now the two screws as shown on Pic. 1 both sides of
the BMW tubular cockpit bar .
Install the Touratech GPS mount adapter as shown in Pic. 2 using
the supplied M5x25 bolts, spacers between the BMW bar and
the Touratech adapter and the M5 washers.
Attach new screws first finger tight only. Reinstall the cockpit
without the windshield and adjust the bar in wanted position
before tightening the screws. CAREFUL not to over
tighten the screws since the side supports are rather light
material as most other parts on the new light R1200GS!
Reconnect the speedometer connector and reinstall other
parts.
