11. Environmental regulations and disposal information
Electrical and electronic devices are marked with a symbol of a crossed-out
wheelie bin.
This symbol indicates that electrical and electronic devices may not be disposed
of with normal domestic waste, but must instead be taken to a separate disposal
centre. The materials contained in the old electrical devices can be reused. In
addition, any old batteries, whether conventional or rechargeable, which are
removable and lamps which can be removed from the old device without causing
damage should be removed from the device prior to disposal.
In accordance with Section 17, Paragraph 1 and 2 ElektroG (Electrical and
Electronic Device Act), we are obliged to take back old devices free of charge.
You can take your old electrical devices to a local collection point for disposal
free of charge. On request, we can take back the following when you purchase a
new electrical or electronic device
- a heat transfer unit,
- a screen, monitor or device with a screen with a surface area of more than 100
square centimetres or
- an old device with at least one external dimension of more than 50 centimetres
(large appliance)
free of charge, providing the listed devices are the same type of device and
largely fulfil the same functions as the new device.
Small devices, lamps, small IT and telecommunications devices where none of the
external dimensions measures more than 50 centimetres and devices which have
no external dimension greater than 25 centimetres can be returned free of charge
to us on purchase of a comparable new device.
Irrespective of the purchase of a new electrical device, you can return an old
device with no dimension greater than 25 cm to us free of charge.
Please note that you are responsible for the deletion of any personal data on
your old device.
The symbol of the crossed-out wheelie bin on conventional and rechargeable
batteries indicates that they cannot be disposed of in normal domestic waste but
must be disposed of separately.
Where batteries contain toxic materials, the chemical symbol of the toxic material
is shown underneath the symbol, with meanings as follows:
