4 Operating the device

This section describes the essential operating steps, as well as the menus and sub-menus
Refer to Section 7 for step-by-step instructions on performing measurements.
Some users may find it more convenient to operate the RIDA
with a stylus ("touchpen"). Please use this option if reliable manual operation is
not possible.

4.1 Switching on

The drawer of the RIDA QUICK SCAN II has to be closed during start-up. Switch on the
®
RIDA QUICK SCAN II by pressing the On switch. Please note that the RIDA
only be operated with USB devices when supplied with external power. Otherwise, the instrument
will not boot correctly or it will turn itself off.
During startup, the status LED illuminates orange and a progress bar appears on the starting
screen. After this, a check of the internal calibration is performed and a request to select the user is
displayed. This selection can be skipped by selecting "No User". Immediately after this, the main
menu is displayed.
The color of the status LED indicates the current operating state of the
