The cap light is not suitable for group II
(Ex) hazardous areas!
The explosion group marked on the cap
light as well as the special conditions
shall be observed!
The cap light may only be opened and
charged in „non- hazardous areas of
Ex1 and Ex2 classification"!
Only the charged battery may be topped
up to the upper filling mark with battery
water.
Modifications to the cap light or changes
of its design are not permitted.
The cap light shall be used for its in-
tended purpose and in perfect and clean
condition.
For replacement and repair only genuine
CEAG spare parts may be used.
Repairs may only be carried out by
qualified electricians or persons trained
in electrotechnics to that effect. The re-
3
spective national regulations have to be
observed.
For safety reasons, the battery's useful
service life has been restricted to 10
years.
1
Danger of acid burns: Put on protective
clothing while handling alkaline solution!
In case of a mechanical destruction,
alkaline solution may leak!
Before the initial operation, any foreign
matter will have to be removed from the
lights.
While undertaking any servicing on the
cap light, the national safety rules and
regulations for prevention of accidents
shall be observed as well as the safety
instructions included in these operating
instructions marked with a

Conformity with standar
This explosion protected cap light meets the
requirements of EN 50014 and EN 50033. It
has been designed, manufactured and tested
according to the state of the art and according
to DIN EN ISO 9001.

3. Short description

The cap light is composed of 3 parts: the
headpiece with reflector and tungsten lamp,
the battery container with cover and accumu-
lator and the connecting cable between these
units.

4. Field of application

The cap light may be used in group I hazard-
ous areas (areas with the hazard of firedamp)
17
acc. to EN 50014.

Battery container

Battery container
Battery container
The battery container (1) houses the NiCd bat-
tery (nickel-cadmium battery). It is made from
high-quality plastics. The container bottom is
reinforced by means of a metal frame.
The magnetic lock (2) is opened with the aid
of a magnet (special tool) and closed by hand
at a minimum expenditure of time. A drilled
hole takes a bolt moulded into the container
cover, thus joining the cover onto the con-
tainer. Two leg springs engage in lateral re-
cesses on the bolt. The magnetic lock can be
pulled off the bolt only when the leg springs
are moved to the side by the magnet.
Carrying loop
The belt loops (3) are made from round steel.
They serve for fixing the cap light on the car-
rying belt and can be fitted on either side of
the battery container so that it is possible to
carry the cap light on the left as well as on the
!
right side of the body, thus possibly increas-
ing ease of carrying (available free cable
length).

The cover (17) is also made from plastics. It is
hooked into the claw and pressed onto the
upper container edge by the magnetic lock. A
gasket (18) is inserted between the cover and
the container.
The charging gases generated in the accumu-
lators are led to the outside through a tube
system (in the cover).
There is a gasket provided between each ac-
cumulator and charging gas tube opening
(page 16, item 12).
Filters are fitted into the charging gas outlets
in the cover (page 16, item 9) which shall pre-
vent the penetration of dirt.
Protection is provided by a filter of foamed
material.
From the outside, the filters are protected
from coarse particles by means of the protec-
tive sheet (page 16, item 6) and the protective
sheet on the magnetic lock. This construction
makes it possible that while the magnetic lock
is open (e. g. for battery replacement), a vis-
ible check of the filter is possible without ad-
ditional effort.
