so that the „UP" marking on the joint
and on the wedge correspond. A
clicking sound confirms that the
wedge has interlocked.
4. Move the brace joint and test the
position of the wedges. Now put back
the tweezers into the holder and
attach the joint cover again by
hooking the two catches of the joint
cover onto the front of the joint and
then pushing the cover onto the joint.
A clicking sound confirms that the
joint cover is fastened securely.
Important notes
Only change the extension and flexion
limits on instruction from your doctor
or orthotist. In order to prevent
hyper extension, always insert extension
wedges or 0° wedges. The wedges define
the exact excursion of the orthosis. In
difficult soft-tissue conditions, e.g. where
the soft-tissues are under compression,
it may be necessary to insert the larger
wedge to limit the joint movement to the
desired excursion. In addition, make sure
that the orthosis hinges are correctly
positioned: the middles of the hinges
should be level with the upper border of
the patella. The hinge must lie behind
the midline of the leg.
Fitting instructions
• Open all the straps so that they will not
interfere with you putting on the
brace.
• Now put your leg into a 30-degree
angle flexion position. Wrap the brace
tightly around your leg from the back
and close it with the two Velcro strips
(Image 1),
• Make sure that the kneecap is
positioned centrally in the space for
the patella. Position the brace so that
the middles of the hinges are level with
the upper border of the kneecap and
just behind the lateral centre line of the
leg (Image 2).
• Now close the straps in the following
order:
– Lower calf strap in the back
(Image 3).
– Lower thigh strap in the back
(Image 4).
– Patellar straps so that the kneecap is
guided from the outside to the inside
– please ensure that the patellar air
cushion is positioned to the side of
the kneecap and that it does not
push onto the kneecap from the
front (Image 5 + 6).
– Upper thigh strap in the back
(Image 7).
– Thigh strap in the front (Image 8).
– Calf strap in the front (Image 9).
• If possible, walk a few steps in order to
check that the brace is in the correct
position. Please adjust the position as
required (Image 10).
