3. Description
The CoolTrans is of modular design and connected to the cooling water circuit of the building (e.g.,
to the cooling water circuit of the air conditioning of the building)
The high-level capacity heat exchanger installed in the CoolTrans separates the cooling water circuit
of the server cabinets from the cooling water circuit of the building.
The secondary cooling water is controlled by a motor-driven two-way valve on the primary side. The
control valve is equipped with a redundant emergency running function, i.e. in the event of
disturbance, it will open automatically and the entire heat can be discharged from the secondary
circuit.
The dew-point temperature is monitored within the CoolTrans.
The secondary cooling water flow temperature is automatically raised to such a level that no
condensate may form at the server cabinets.
For this purpose, the inclusive humidity sensor needs to be installed in the room where the server
cabinets are placed and must be connected to the CoolTrans.
3.1 Automatic Dew-point Control
The CoolTrans is equipped with automatic dew-point control.
For this purpose, the ambient humidity at the installation site of the water-cooled racks (CoolTherm /
CoolAdd) is permanently recorded and assessed by means of an inclusive hygrostat. It will then be
converted by means of an internal computer and assigned to a cooling water temperature.
The CoolTrans is programmed in such a way that the cooling water temperature will always be 1K
above the dew-point temperature.
