Operating Instruction
We congratulate you on the purchase of this SCALA quality
product. You should first read the instruction manual tho-
roughly through in order to benefit from the qualities of this
device. Keep the instruction manual in a safe place so that
you can refer to it later. The SC 53 TM will give you many
vears of reliable service.
Specialities:
e Depending on the measuring mode you have set, you
can use the SC 53 TM to determine your body
temperature by measuring at the temple or in the ear.
e The SC 53 TM is also suitable for measuring the ambient
temperature within the range of 10 °C to 50 °C.
e When switched to standby, the SC 53 TM displays the
time and the ambient temperature.
e The device shows you the last measured value again
before each new measurement.
e After measuring a temperature, the device switches
back to standby after approx. 1 minute to save the
battery and then displays the time and ambient
temperature.
Safety warnings:
e The SC53 TM is suitable only for measuring the human
body temperature and the ambient temperature.
e The thermometer contains small parts (batteries etc),
which can be swallowed by small children and could
therefore become extremely dangerous. Keep the
batteries and thermometer out of the reach of small
children for this reason. If a battery or other small part is
swallowed, seek medical help immediately.
e The batteries supplied must not be charged or
reactivated by other means, taken apart, disposed of in
fires or short-circuited. Batteries must be disposed of
properly. All shops supplying batteries have containers
for battery disposal, as do communal collection points.
e Protect the SC 53 TM from sunlight, temperatures above
50 °C and from penetrating moisture.
e Do not drop the SC 53 TM, and only open it to replace
the batteries.

The device has been certified to the 93/42/EWG
GUIDELINES of 14 June 1993 regarding medicinal products.
