Check the harness
Users of SpanSet AG Safety Harness must carry out a pre use inspection before each and every use. If any defects
or damage is identified the Safety Harness should not be used. It should be taken to a competent person responsi-
ble for detailed recorded inspections for a thorough visual and functional check.
Check the markings for readability, check the webbing for:
cuts, tears and nicks
fraying
heat damage
evidence of chemical & U.V light attack, which will be seen as discolouration, softening or hardening of the webbing
Checking the stitch patterns for:
broken or abraded stitches
pulled and loops of stitching
Checking the metal fittings for:
corrosion
deformation
Checking the plastic components for:
proper location
deformation
Detailed Recorded Inspections
Detailed recorded inspections should:
be carried out by a trained competent person to ensure the safety and integrity of the Safety Harness
recorded in the record table contained within these User Instructions
be carried out on a regular basis. The frequency of the detailed recorded inspection should deemed through Risk
Assessment taking into account legislation, equipment type, frequency of use, and environmental conditions,
which may accelerate the rate of deterioration and physical damage
be carried out at least every 12 months regardless of usage
The equipment has a service life of 10 years, but this duration may increase or decrease depending on
how it is used and/or the results of annual checks.
