NOTICE! Possible damage to the awning
fabric! Ripples in the vicinity of the hem,
seam and panels is the result of multiple ply
fabric and different wrapping thickness on
the cloth spindle. The stretching in the mate-
rial that results can produce patterns on the
fabric.
Ripples from wrapping next to the seam on
the rolled up and unrolled cloth are caused
by double ply material in the vicinity of the
stitching.
During periods of short absence, and if the wind
increases, the awning should be brought in.
If the awning has become wet, allow it to dry out as
soon as possible in its extended position. If the awn-
ing is rolled up for an extended period, unsightly
stains may easily develop.
For cleaning, use a dry brush on the fabric of the awn-
ing. Remove persistent dirt with warm soapy water
and a brush. Leave to dry out before retracting.
Never use cleaning agents containing solvents. They
cause bleaching of the fabric and damage the weave.
In order to avoid damage as far as possible, never
use alkaline or acidic cleaning agents or steam jets to
clean the fabric. To prevent material fatigue, it is nec-
essary to prevent the formation of water pockets
(water accumulation on the cloth) by draining off rain-
water.
The following features may not be viewed as faults as
long as they do not become unreasonably frequent:
– Sagging of the cloth due to its own dead weight is
possible.
– Colour deviations between individual lengths of
fabric may occur for production-related reasons.
– Different shades, however, are merely optical
phenomena. They occur due to different light
refractions on smooth and folded points.
– An uneven thread path can occur when making
up.
General notices regarding the awning cloth
Awning cloths are high-performance products. How-
ever, there are limits to their perfection arising from
the state-of-the-art technology and due to the require-
ments of environmental protection. Certain features
in the cloth, which are occasionally complained
about, are possible despite advanced production and
processing technology. Basically, these effects occur
in different thickness grades in almost all awning
cloths. They do not, however, in any way reduce the
quality of the cloths.
• Creases are caused during the packaging and
folding of the awning cloths. In this case, espe-
cially with light colours, surface effects (pigmenta-
tion changes) may occur in the crease, which look
darker (like dirt streaks) when held against the
light source. They do not reduce the value and
suitability for use of the awning.
• Chalk effects are light streaks, which occur on
refined products during processing, and which
cannot always be completely avoided, even
though utmost care is taken. They therefore also
do not substantiate grounds for complaint.

Malfunctions are often caused by minor faults. You
can easily remedy most of these yourself. Please
consult the following table before contacting the ven-
dor. You will save yourself a lot of trouble and possibly
money too.

times, one or both hinged arms may hang
unevenly or in slanting position. In this case,
the hinged arm must be adjusted (► Setting
the angle of the awning – p. 28).
Note: To ensure trouble-free operation of
the awning, the hinged joints of the hinged
arms should be lubricated at regular inter-
vals using a resin-free and acid-free oil.
