CHOOSING A LOCATION
As a minimum requirement
smoke alarms should be installed in all
bedrooms, children's rooms and
corridors that function as escape routes,
only in the middle of the ceiling (no
wall mounting).
Choose the highest point to install the
unit, ensuring that it is posi-
tioned at least 50 cm away from
RM
surrounding walls, furniture and lamps.
To provide optimum protec-
tion
for your home, install units in
RM
RM
all the other rooms and in the
stairwells. The unit is also suitable for
RM
use in the kitchen (the most com-
mon location for household fires).
In most cases, there is no need to
install a smoke alarm in washrooms

(bathrooms, toilets, etc.) such rooms
Kitchen

these instructions.
RM

,
the principles of optics (photoelectric

reflection) and contains a measuring
chamber in which penetrating smoke
particles are measured.
• If the alarm threshold is exceeded, a
loud, audible alarm will sound.
• The alarm will switch itself off as
soon as the measuring chamber
becomes smokefree again.
