If a small change (e.g. 1 to 2°C) or significant change (e.g. >2°C) in mixed water temperature which
may or may not require service work, are recorded in these period, then the next in-service test
should be carried out at 18 to 21 weeks after commissioning.
A cold water failsafe should be carried twice yearly. Flow from the valve should stop within one second
after isolating the cold water supply.
MAINTENANCE
• Check the calibration and anti-scalding failsafe at least twice a year, (and more frequently
in hard water or heavily charged areas).
• To maximise the reliability of the PREMIX over time, and to reduce the risks associated with Legionella,
we recommend checking the following items at least twice a year:
- Non-return valves, filters and inter-changeable cartridge: de-scale and replace worn or damaged parts.
- Mixing chamber: de-scale.
If the PREMIX is not mixing correctly (Fig. D) :
• Make sure the HW/CW pressures are balanced. The pressure difference between the hot
and cold water pressure should be less than 1 bar.
• Check the hot water temperature. The temperature should be more than 55°C.
• Isolate the hot and cold water supply.
• Check that the filters  are correctly sited. Replace if necessary.
• Check the non-return valves . Replace if necessary.
• To remove the mechanism:
- Remove the cap .
- Unscrew the screw  using a 10mm Allen key.
- Remove the thermostatic element , the shuttle  and the spring  gently by hand.
- Clean the shuttle and the thermostatic element.
- Clean the inside of the mixer body .
- Check the 4 O-rings on the shuttle, replace the mechanism, tighten the screw  to the maximum
point, and open the hot and cold water supply.
MAINTENANCE & CLEANING
• Cleaning chrome and stainless steel: do not use abrasive, chlorine or any other acid-based
cleaning products. Clean with mild soapy water using a cloth or a sponge.
• Frost protection: drain the pipes and operate the valve several times to drain any remaining water.
In the event of prolonged exposure to frost, we recommend taking the mechanisms apart and storing
them indoors.
