L'un des connecteurs du câble ATA-100 à 80 pôles est marqué en
couleur (dans la plupart des cas en « bleu »), celle-ci doit être
enfichée dans le contrôleur IDE. L'autre bout doit être enfiché dans
le disque dur configuré « Maître ».
Il est possible de raccorder un disque dur « asservi » au raccord
situé au milieu du câble.
La broche 1 du câble est également marquée en couleur.

c) Il est préférable de ne pas mélanger les disques durs ATA-
100 et les disques durs « normaux » .
Il est possible que le disque dur « normal » (ou d'autres appareils
IDE) freine le disque dur ATA-100 (ou d'autres appareils ATA-100)

12. Tips & Hints
• If the ATA-100 controller is capable of booting (e.g. via the "SCSI
setting" in BIOS, see point 9), you should run other devices than
the hard disk (e.g. CD-ROMs, CD-burner, ZIP-drives) at the IDE
controller of the motherboard, if possible.
Depending on how your computer is equipped/plug-in cards it is
conceivable that the operating system can only be loaded via the
motherboard IDE controller, booting via the ATA-100 controller
may thus not be possible.
• In this case, you should use the hard disk connected to the ATA-
100 controller (with ATA-100 mode) for applications that require a
high data transmission rate, e.g. copy the data to that location.
• If you have an SCSI controller with BIOS and connected SCSI
hard disk on your PC in addition to the ATA-100 controller, it will
depend on the computer configuration/BIOS, whether booting
from the ATA-100 is possible or whether the computer starts only
from the SCSI hard disk.
This may depend on the PCI-plug-in location (switch ATA-100
controller and SCSI controller).
