Windows 98 identifie maintenant le pilote. Cliquez sur « Suivant »,
puis sur « Terminer ».
Windows 98 trouve en fin de compte les deux contrôleurs (IDE prin-
cipal et secondaire).
b) Windows ME
Après l'identification du nouveau matériel, cliquez sur « Indiquer le
chemin du pilote (Avancé) », puis sur « Suivant ». Cliquez sur « Indi-
quer le chemin » et ensuite sur « Parcourir ».
Sélectionnez le lecteur cédéroms avec le cédérom de pilotes , sélec-
tionnez ensuite le dossier « CMD », puis le dossier « CMD649 » et
ensuite le dossier « WINME ». Cliquez sur ok et puis sur « Suivant ».
Windows ME identifie alors le pilote pour « CMD PCI-0649 Ultra
DMA IDE Controller ». Cliquez sur « Suivant » ce qui entraîne la
copie des pilotes correspondants. Pour terminer, cliquez sur « Ter-
miner ».
Windows ME identifie aussi les deux contrôleurs (IDE principal et
secondaire).
9. Paramètres BIOS
Le contrôleur IDE est capable de mettre en service l'ordinateur, càd
que le système d'exploitation peut à tout moment être chargé à par-
tir d'un disque dur raccordé au contrôleur ATA-100 (au connecteur
IDE1, configuré « maître »).
Si vous ne souhaitez pas profiter de cette possibilité, il est inutile de
lire les conseils suivants.
Pour cela, il n'est pas forcément nécessaire de déconnecter les
contrôleurs IDE installés sur votre carte mère.

Obviously, the ATA-100 controller is not a SCSI controller. This,
however, does not matter to the PC BIOS. Rather it should read
"Other" instead of "SCSI". This would probably be clearer.
Anyway, your computer should now boot via the ATA-100 control-
ler.
Some BIOS versions may not offer this booting option.
In this case, it might be necessary to turn off the DIE
controller on the motherboard or at least to deactivate
the "Primary controller". It could also help NOT to
connect a hard disk to the "primary controller" of the
motherboard (i.e. only CD-ROM/burner or similar devi-
ces).
Some BIOS versions of motherboards even allow the
booting sequence to be adjusted to a PCI-IDE control-
ler.
In some cases it becomes necessary to provide the
hard disk from which to boot with an operating system
at the controller of the motherboard, then re-plug the
hard disk to the ATA-100 controller.
10. Partitioning and formatting
A new hard disk must first be partitioned with the MS-DOS com-
mand FDISK, subsequently after a restart you must format all crea-
ted partitions via the MS-DOS command FORMAT. This applies
also for Windows 95, 98 or ME.
Either you partition and format the hard disk under Windows
(start MSDOS prompt!) or via booting floppy disk:
