Setting Up the Multi-Train System
Connections for the MTS Central Unit
1. Connect the MTS central unit (LGB 55006) to the track
(Figure 1).
2. Connect your entry devices (locomotive hand controller,
universal hand controller) to the Western Electric sockets
on the central unit marked "LGB-Bus" (Figure 3).
3. Connect your LGB switched mode power pack to the
central unit. Connect the black/white clips marked with
"Schaltnetzteil" (Switched mode power pack) to the LGB
switched mode power pack. It does not matter which
wire is connected to which clip. Plug the switched mode
power pack into the household current.
4. Place a locomotive equipped with a decoder on to the
track.
Notes
• Any LGB switched mode power pack can be used to
supply power (AC current or DC current). The maximum
track current is automatically limited to 5 amps. If your
switched mode power pack provides less than 5 amps,
then you have correspondingly less track current availab-
le.
• On large layouts with many locomotives, you can supply
power to additional track areas, 5 amps per track area,
by using one or several MTS Power Boosters (LGB 55090
and switched mode power packs). The MTS Power
Booster transmits the locomotive operation commands to
all of the track areas. (No more than four LGB 55090 MTS
Power Boosters should ever be used on a layout in order
to keep from losing data in the LGB bus. If necessary, se-
veral track areas can be connected to a single Booster.)
• When converting an analog layout, any diodes that are
being used (reverse loops, direction-dependent signal
circuits) must be removed. The LGB 55080 Reverse Loop
Module is available for reverse loops on MTS layouts.
• You should never use more than 8 entry devices for
controlling your locomotives. Beyond that up to 7 devices
(Universal Hand Controllers) can be used to control
turnouts and other functions.
