Technical Features:
With the LGB multi-train system:

Safety Notes
• The central unit must be protected from moisture and
heat. It must have sufficient ventilation and should not be
installed in an enclosed space.
• Never connect the LGB Multi-Train System to the track
together with a conventional analog switched mode
power pack / locomotive controller! Also, never connect
two or more central units simultaneously to the track.
• Never use the multi-train system with a power supply
from the catenary. Extreme voltage spikes may occur:
LIFE THREATENING SITUATION!
• Never connect the central unit directly to the household
current.
• Do not connect the Western Electric plugs on the MTS
components to the telephone system. The MTS compo-
nents will be immediately destroyed.
• Check all of the components for the Multi-Train System
regularly. Do not use the system if one of the components
is damaged.

What is the Multi-Train System (MTS)?
In conventional analog operation, the locomotive's motor
is supplied with power directly through the track. The track
voltage changes when you operate the locomotive control-
ler, and the locomotive runs forward or in reverse, slowly or
faster. When the track voltage is turned off, the train comes
to a stop. If two locomotives are on the same track, both
always run at the same time. The layout has to be divided
into separate track current areas, so-called blocks, in order
to have several locomotives run independently of each other
in analog operation. Each block receives its own power
supply (the blocks must be insulated from each other!), and
locomotives can thus run independently of each other.
The situation is very different in digital operation with the
LGB Multi-Train System. A maximum voltage is always
present in the track. Locomotive operation and signal com-
mands are transmitted through the track. A decoder built
into the locomotives controls the motor and other locomoti-
ve functions such as lights, sound functions, etc. Since each
locomotive is controlled individually, everyone operating on
the layout can operate his own locomotive.
