Operating Status
The left monitor light gives the operating status of the LGB
55006 MTS central unit (Fig. 2):
• Green, continuously on: normal locomotive operation
• Red, slowly blinking: The emergency button was pressed.
Press the emergency stop button ("Stop") on the hand
controller again after a pause to turn the layout on again.
Or, press the "Reset" button on the central unit.
Or, short circuit. In this situation, remove the cause of
the short circuit, press the emergency stop button on
the hand controller or the "Reset" button on the central
unit, and resume operation. After several short circuits
(overheating of the central unit), the central unit will be
blocked for about 1.5 minutes; the "Reset" button will not
work during this time.
• Red, continuous light: Overheating of the central unit.
Let the central unit cool off. Give the central unit better
ventilation. After it has cooled off, the central unit will
go into the emergency stop mode. Press the "Reset"
button on the central unit. Resume operation with a few
locomotives.
• Red, blinking fast: Malfunction report from the MTS
Power Booster. Short circuit in the Booster area. Remove
the cause of the short circuit, etc. (see above).
• Red, asynchronous short blinking twice: MTS II bus
overloaded. Check entry devices for defective cables.
Remove defective entry device(s). Press the "Reset"
button on the central unit and resume operation.
• Red, asynchronous short blinking three times: MTS III bus
overloaded. Check entry devices for defective cables.
Remove defective entry device(s). Press the "Reset"
button on the central unit and resume operation.
• Green, with a pause in blinking: Reset packages on the
running track (track under current, decoder turned off;
only with DiMax Navigator and MTS III).
• The right LED shows the incoming Bus data and blinks
irregularly during this process.
Mixed Operation with a Conventional Locomotive
You can use a conventional locomotive without a decoder
in so-called "mixed operation". To do this, simply place the
conventional locomotive on the track. This locomotive is
controlled using address "0".
Important! The direction of travel for a conventional locomo-
tive in mixed operation is different from that for locomotives
with decoders. For a conventional locomotive, it depends
in which direction the locomotive is standing on the track.
Test conventional locomotives before you operate them on
the layout!
Note: When operating a conventional locomotive (without a
decoder), you will hear a buzzing sound that occurs chiefly
when the locomotive is standing still. This is caused by the
digital signal that is being transmitted through the track.
There is no danger in this.
