9.4 Air duct system
The fans that ventilate the bathroom and wC must not be con-
nected to any other rooms in the apartment.
No more than two appliances per storey may be connected to
a shared main duct.
The diameter of the main duct must be selected based on the
number of appliances. observe the chapter "specification /
data table".
Causes of increased pressure drops:
- warping
- Constricted cross-sections
- Length of main duct above topmost appliance ≥ 1.5 m
Compensate for the increased pressure drop by using a larger
diameter main duct.
size the main duct so that all fans can be operated simultane-
ously at full delivery rate.
According to dIN 18017-3, extract air ducts must be airtight,
stable and, in the case of more than two full storeys, made
of fire-retardant material (class A to dIN 4102). The extract air
ducts must be constructed or thermally insulated in such a way
that damage from condensate is avoided. The discharge pipe
must be routed to the outside through the roof.
To prevent structure-borne sound transmission, fasten the
main duct using sound attenuating pipe clips.
Install cleaning apertures in the extract air ducts. The cleaning
apertures must have an airtight cap. screw-in cleaning caps
are not permissible.
9.5 Ventilation and extract air ducting
every internal room that needs to be ventilated must have a
non-lockable inflow aperture with an unrestricted cross-sec-
tion of 150 cm².
The extract air must be discharged into the main duct as close
to the ceiling as possible.

10. Installation
Installation position
1 Check valve spring
If you install the enclosure in such a way that the air outlet is
in the lower half, you must hook the spring of the check valve
into the third hole. This increases the spring tension.
10.1 Flush-mounted appliance
Material losses
!
You can install the flush-mounted enclosure during
initial building works. A plaster protection cover is in-
cluded in the standard delivery to protect against dirt.
f Insert the plaster protection cover after installing
the flush-mounted enclosure.
do not remove the plaster protection cover until you
fit the fan unit into the flush-mounted enclosure.
Option: Fire safety
If it is specified that fire protection must be guaranteed, use
the flush-mounted enclosure made of fire protection material.
see chapter "Appliance description".
In addition, it must be ensured that the fire cannot spread
through the air outlet of the appliance and into the main duct
of the building.
Fire protection is achieved by having a height offset of 300 mm
between the air outlet from the appliance and the connection
to the main duct. The height offset causes cold air to collect in
front of the check valve in the ventilation pipe.
