Electrical connection | Rexroth PSG xxxx
Insufficient PE conductor system
Reduction of personal/plant safety!
The product must be connected to the PE conductor system of
the plant correctly.
Make sure that the conductor cross-section of the PE conductor
is of sufficient size.
The electrical continuity of the PE conductor system must be
verified in accordance with EN 60204 Part 1.
Dangerous electrical voltage in case of contact with the secondary
connections, the welding gun or the workpiece.
If these protective measures are not applied or are ineffective, there
may be danger of life!
For degree of protection 1, additional protective measures as
stipulated in EN 62135-1 must be applied as protection against
inadmissibly high contact voltages in case of an insulation
failure between primary and secondary circuit.
When delivered, the secondary circuit (negative pole) of the
mediumfrequency transformers is connected with the protective
conductor connection by a removable protective conductor
jumper (MPE). This corresponds to the protective measure
"direct protective conductor connection" according to
EN 62135-1.
If another protective measure in accordance with EN 62135 is
implemented instead of "direct protective conductor
connection", the protective conductor jumper (MPE) must be
removed. The removal of the protective conductor jumper
(MPE) must be permanently (in an indelible manner) indicated
on the plate provided on the transformer.
As a further measure for degree of protection 1, the housing of
the mediumfrequency transformers must be connected firmly
with the protective conductor connection of the transformer.
This connection cannot be removed.
Non-operative protective conductor jumper
The "direct protective conductor connection" protective measure
becomes ineffective! That means that human lives may be in
danger in the event of an insulation failure (between primary and
secondary circuit)!
Do not commission the system with "direct protective conductor
connection" unless the following test has been performed
without any objections.
Dangerous electrical voltage
Under certain circumstances, compensation currents ("crossover
currents" according to EN 62135-1) may flow through the MPE
protective conductor connections. This means that human lives may
be in danger in the event of an insulation failure!
The compensation currents must generally be avoided because
they may interrupt the protective conductor connection through
the protective conductor jumper (MPE).
An interruption of the protective conductor connection will
render the "direct protective conductor connection" protective
measure inoperative.
Circulating currents in case of the „direct protective conductor
connection" protective measure!
Dangerous contact voltage possible!
If, according to the subsequent test, it is not possible to avoid
circulating currents when using the „direct protective conductor
connection", voltage- or current-operated earth-leakage circuit
breakers must be used which are suited for operation at
1000 Hz medium-frequency systems with DC link.

WARNING
WARNING
Defective connection of cables
Possibility of reduction of safety of persons/systems, function
disturbances/restrictions!
All conductor cross-sections should be rated in accordance with
the installed load.
Make sure that the connecting cables cannot become detached
inadvertently.
Please note the maximum tightening torque for screws and
terminals specified in the technical data.
Please ensure that the contact areas are bare, i.e. free from
paint, plastic coats or dirt/oxidation.
Please ensure that the insulation of connecting cables is not
damaged.
Inappropriate or missing evaluation of error messages
Possibility of reduction of personal/plant safety, function
disturbances!
Many messages can be configured freely in the WT depending
on your requirements, either as "warning" (no inhibition) or
"error " (with inhibition).
However, messages with error characteristic always have to be
configured as "error" and thus lead to inhibition of the
connected timer!
Use the available message signals to design the process of
your application as safely as possible.
The timer provides a large variety of message signals to feed in
error signals from the process and output errors to the process
(PLC, robot) (e.g. via discrete and/or serial inputs/outputs).
For information about fault analysis, refer to the
"Troubleshooting" chapter of the Operating Instructions for the
product.
NOTICE
Inappropriate control
Possibility of damage to the electrical equipment!
Check whether the product is suitable for the application/control
electronics! The product may only be used if suitable.
Make sure that fluctuations or deviations from the nominal value
always range within the permitted tolerance limits (refer to
technical data).
Capacitive or inductive interferences in the cables
Possibility of function disturbances!
Install the power lines and control cables separately – if
possible.
The following clearances are recommended:
> 100 mm with parallel installation of cables < 10 m,
> 250 mm with parallel installation of cables > 10 m.
Plugging or unplugging modules or connectors/terminals into/from
live systems
Possibility of damage to the electrical equipment, unexpected plant
reactions!
Unless described otherwise, never unplug or plug any
connectors/terminals on live systems.
