The As-Interface Safety Monitor - Siemens SIGUARD LS4-4 Anleitung

The safety AS-Interface system is designed to handle safety applications up to
category 4 as defined by EN 954-1. Mixed operations involving both AS-Interface
standard components and safety-related AS-Interface components are also a possibil-
ity.
A comprehensive description of safety AS-Interface data transmission will be found
in the Connecting and Operating Instructions of the AS-Interface safety monitor,
chapter 11.

2.2.1 The AS-Interface safety monitor

Acting within an AS-Interface system, the AS-Interface safety monitor keeps a check
on the safety-related AS-Interface slaves that have been allocated to it, in keeping with
the configuration that has been defined by the user by means of the configuration
software. Depending on the specific model of the device, either one or two dependent
or independent release circuits with device monitoring capability are available. In case
of an order to stop, or if a defect occurs, the AS-Interface safety monitor when in
protective mode will safely switch off the system, with a reaction time of no more than
40 ms when the full resources of the system are utilised. This makes it possible to link
up to 31 safety-related AS-Interface slaves in a single system.

It is possible for several AS-Interface safety monitors to be used within an AS-Interface
system. This means that a safety-related AS-Interface slave may be monitored by
several AS-Interface safety monitors simultaneously.
