distortion becomes less
audible.
b) Multipath dependent MCC
transmitter selection
While using MCC, the
computer also receives
information from the multipath
detector mentioned under a)
and tries to find, if necessary, a
better alternative if available.
'Dead areas'
In some areas e.g. tunnels, it is
not possible to receive radio
signals. In MCC mode, the
display will read 0000' and the
radio will mute. This will also
happen in areas not covered
by the transmitter frequencies
programmed in MCC mode.
Should you use presets,
search or manual tuning in
such cases, the radio will not
mute and the frequency will
remain displayed despite the
absence of a signal.
However, if INFO has been
switched on, in any case, the
radio will start the Auto INFO
Search after 5 seconds and
after a warning beep.
Two radio stations on the
same frequency
As a result of a less than
perfect transmitter division, itis
possible that two national radio
stations could be received on
the same frequency. This
station clash is most likely to
occur on a long journey of
approximately 400 kms or
more, In such cases the MCC
may select a frequency for the
radio stations you have chosen
which by coincidence is the
same frequency being used by
another radio station. This
clash can cause interference
but by pushing the clear button
the frequency on which the
clash occurs is removed from
the scanning process. If signal
clashes occur frequently we
recommend that the offending
transmitter frequency be
removed from the memory by
0000 or an alternative
transmitter frequency be
programmed in its place.
The situation described above
may also occur in border areas
where foreign stations may be
picked up broadcasting on the
same frequency as a national
radio station programmed into
the memory.
N.B. In some countries radio
stations are broadcast by a
number of transmitters of
which some may use the same
frequency. In such cases you
need only programme the
duplicated frequency once.
Interference Absorption
Circuit (1.A.C.)
This electronic circuit strongly
improves the quality of FM
reception by suppressing
nearly all the interference
produced from inside and
outside of the vehicle.
Automatic tuning adjustment
The MCC system enables you
to adjust and to programme
frequencies of stations in the
FM-band. Some of these
stations you cannot yet receive
because of the large distance
to these stations. So you will
-not be able to check whether
the tuning is correct.
For that reason, it is very
important that the accuracy on
FM is so high, that the tuned
frequency is still correctly
ENGLISH
adjusted at the time you enter
the area covered by the
stations concerned.
Therefore, at definite intervals
the frequency adjustment of
the radio is entirely
automatically checked and if
necessary corrected.
This so-called tuning
readjustment takes place
immediately after switching on
the radio and later on at certain
intervals. The operation is
audible as a brief sound
interruption.
