Hold the tool with both hands at the intended

Never operate at higher speed than the maxi-
mum speed rating of the earth augering bit. At
higher speeds, the bit is likely to bend if allowed
t o r o t a t e f r e e l y w i t h o u t c o n t a c t i n g t h e w o r k p i e c e ,
resulting in personal injury.

Always start earth augering at low speed and
with the earth augering tip in contact with the
ground. At higher speeds, the bit is likely to bend
i f a l l o w e d t o r o t a t e f r e e l y w i t h o u t c o n t a c t i n g t h e
ground, resulting in personal injury.

Apply pressure only in direct line with the bit
and do not apply excessive pressure. B i t s c a n
bend causing breakage or loss of control, resulting
in personal injury.

The outside diameter of the auger bit must be
within the drilling capacity specified in this
instruction manual. Incorrectly sized auger bit
cannot be adequately controlled.
Always be sure you have a firm footing. Be

Do not leave the tool running. Operate the tool
only when hand-held.
12. Do not touch the auger bit immediately after
operation; it may be extremely hot and could

tion and skin contact. Follow material supplier
safety data.
1 4 . If the auger bit cannot be loosened even you
remove the auger pin, use pliers to pull it out.
In such a case, pulling out the auger bit by hand
may result in injury by its sharp edge.
15. If something wrong with the tool such as
abnormal sounds, stop operating immediately
and ask your local Makita Service Center for
repair.
16. Before operation, make sure that there is no
buried object such as electric pipe, water pipe
