GENERAL SAFETY
NOTICES FOR POWER
TOOLS
L
This chapter provides the general
safety notices which are prefor-
mulated in the standard DIN EN
62841-1 for electric motor-operat-
ed hand-held tools.
Some of the safety notices which
are specified under "2) Electrical
Safety" for preventing an electric
shock do not apply to cordless
tools.

WARNING: Note all safety
notices, instructions, illus-
trations and technical data
provided with this power
tool. Failure to follow the
instructions listed below may
result in electric shock, fire and/
or serious injury.
Retain all safety notices and
instructions for future refer-
ence.
The term "power tool" used
in the safety notices refers to
mains-operated (corded) power
tools and to battery-operated
(cordless) power tools.

1) Workplace Safety

a) Keep the working area clean and
well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite
accidents.
b) Do not operate the power tool in
potentially explosive atmospheres
containing flammable liquids,
gases, or dusts. Power tools create
sparks which may ignite the dust or
fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away
while operating the power tool. If
you are distracted, you may lose con-
trol of the power tool.

2) Electrical Safety

a) The power tool plug must match
the outlet socket. The plug may
not be modified in any way. Do not
use any adapter plugs with earthed
(grounded) power tools. Unmodified
mains plugs and matching sockets will
reduce the risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or
grounded surfaces such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of elec-
tric shock if the body is earthed or
grounded.
