5. OPERATION AND FIRST USE

Plug the headphone plug into the headphone jack. (11) on the
back of the device. The sound is now solely played via the head
phones; the loudspeaker is muted.

If you want the sound to be played by the speakers again, unplug
the headphone plug from the headphone jack on the device.
5.2.5. Switching on the device
To ensure a good DAB+/FM(UKW) signal, completely pull out the
antenna located on the back of the device. Please note section 5.2.3
on this matter.
First prepare the radio for operation as described in section 5.2.
Press the Standby button (7)to switch on the radio. After
>
switching on for the first time, you must first set the [Language].
To do so, select one of the available languages with the <Tune or
Tune> buttons and confirm your selection by pressing the Select
button. The device then automatically performs a complete search
in DAB mode. During the search, the progress and the number
of digital radio stations found are displayed. The first DAB+ pro-
gramme is played after the station search has been completed.
5.2.6. Switching off the device
When connected to the power:
Press and hold the Standby button (7) to switch the unit to

Standby mode. The message [Standby] appears briefly on the
display. The time and date are displayed. You can change the
display brightness in standby mode as described in section 9.4.
In battery mode:

In battery mode, the device is always switched off by holding
down the standby button (7). The display briefly displays the
information [Power off]. The time and date are not shown. The
standby mode is not available in battery mode.
5.2.7. Switching DAB+/FM mode
Press the MODE button (1) briefly to switch between DAB+
>
(Digital Radio) and FM (UKW).
