tomgespeist (DIN 45 596 bzw. IEC 268-15).
2. Das Kondensatormikrophon
T L M 170 R
Das Kondensatormikrophon TLM 170 R ist ein Stu-
diomikrophon der Serie fet 100 mit funf umschaltba-
ren Richtcharaktenstiken.
Die Buchstaben TLM stehen fur „Transformatorloses
Mikrophon". Der Zusatz R weist auf die Fernbedien-
barkeit (Remote) der Richtcharaktenstiken hin (sie-
he Abschnitt 3.2.2).
sorgt. Daher werden Stórsignale. die auf die symme-
trische M odulationsleitung einwirken, wie gewohnt
unterdruckt.
Die Eigenstórspannung des TLM 170 R konnte ge-
genuber vergleichbaren M ikrophontypen gesenkt
werden. wobei das Mikrophon Schalldruckpegel von
144 dB unverzerrt ubertragt und ohne Umschaltung
einen Dynamikumfang von 130 dB zur Verfijgung
stellt (nach DIN/IEC 651).
Das Kondensatormikrophon TLM 170 R wird von der
Seite besprochen. Seme Vorderseite ist durch das
Neumann-Emblem gekennzeichnet. die Umschalter
befinden sich auf der Mikrophonnickseite.
Die im Drahtgeflechtkorb des Mikrophons befindliche
Doppelmembrankapsel besitzt fur alle einstellbaren
R ichtcharaktenstiken besonders ebene Frequenz-
gange, und zwar nicht nur, wie vielfach ublich. fur
den von vorn einfallenden Schall. sondern auch fur
The output sensitivity is 8 mV/Pa = - 4 2 d B r e . iV /P a.
The m icrophone is phantom pow ered from 48 V,
2.6 mA (IEC 268-15/DIN45596).
The axis of maximum sensitivity is at right angles to
the main axis of the microphone. The front is desig
nated by the Neumann insignia.
At the back of the microphone may be found
- the directional characteristic selectors switch: five
switch positions plus a sixth one for remote con
trol (s. page 8).
-
a switchable high-pass; - 3 dB point at 30 Hz in
LIN position, or 100 Hz.
- a 10 dB attenuation switch.
The swivelable mounting bracket is elastically m ount
ed. It may be removed or may be mounted to the other
side of the microphone when required.
2. The TLM 170 R Condenser
Microphone
The TLM 170 R Condenser Microphone is a studio mi
crophone of the fet 100 series, featuring five switch-
able directional characteristics.
The letters TLM stand for Transform erless M icro
phone.
The suffix R denotes Remote control facilities of the
directional characteristics (see chapter 3.2.2).
The transformer which normally couples the m icro
phone's output to the supply voltage, has been re
placed intheTLM 170 R by an electronic circuit which,
like a transformer, maintains the excellent common
mode rejection (CMR). Interference induced in the bal
anced modulation line is therefore suppressed as
usual.
The self-noise level of the TLM 170 R is lower than
comparable m icrophone models w hile its overload
capability extends to 144 dB SPL, providing, without
any switch-over, a dynamic range of 130 dB (DIN/IEC
651).
The TLM 170 R has its axis of maximum sensitivity
arranged radially; i.e. at right angles to the axis of its
body.
The microphone front is marked by the Neumann in
signia. while the directional characteristic switch is at
its back.
Its grille houses a dual-m em brane capsule with a
particularly linear frequency response for all polar pat
terns.
