Operator duties
2.2.1

Before commissioning

The product must be clearly marked for the intended storage purpose.
Check the product for damage.
2.2.2

Permanent obligations

The following are permanent obligations for the operator:
water, health & safety, and building law regulations are met
g
the regulations for storage of gases under pressure are observed
g
the regulations concerning hazardous substances are observed
g
national regulations for health and safety, accident prevention and environmental protection are implemented
g
all other national rules and regulations are implemented
g
a risk assessment is carried out
g
misuse is prevented
g
anyone who works with the product uses suitable protective equipment
g
anyone who works with the product is qualified for his area of responsibility
g
workers are trained regularly, at least twice a year, in order to keep safety and hazard knowledge up to date
g
clear responsibilities are assigned to employees (e.g. operation, maintenance, repair)
g
maintenance and service intervals are adhered to
g
damage is repaired promptly and professionally
g
only accessories approved by DENIOS and original replacement parts are used
g
measures are taken to remove the potential for ignition sources
g
equipotential bonding is professionally connected
g
the safety data sheet for the medium stored is observed
g
pressurised gas cylinders are protected from significant heating, fire, corrosion, mechanical damage and unauthor-
g
ised access
the roof is regularly checked for foreign bodies (e.g. snow, leaves) and cleared
g
replace illegible or missing symbols and nameplates immediately
g

Special protective measures

For acutely toxic gases (H330) or flammable gases (H221–H220) the operator must create protected areas for pressurised
gas cylinders, which are dependent on gas density. These protected areas must be given special consideration by the op-
erator in the risk assessment, e.g. explosion protection measures may be needed.
The following special protective measures must be observed:
for acutely toxic gases, the protected areas must not extend into emergency exit or rescue routes
g
for acutely toxic gases in class 1 or 2, as well as for pyrophoric gases, the valve must be secured with a locking nut
g
for flammable gases, explosion protection measures must be taken in the protected area
g
